Problem with software

When I try to print my personal copies and a copy to mail to my state the return opens up in word pad in computer language. I tried saving to PDF, no luck printing at all. I need some advice here please! I have never had this problem with Turbo Tax in previous years.
What's great about it: quick to use to do return
What's not so great: Unable to print my return but was able to E file federal
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I can still do it myself

Without Turbo Tax I think I would have had to throw in the towel on doing my own taxes, especially when I received a totally unfamiliar Schedule K-1 (what was my broker thinking when he got me involved with that sort of activity!!).
Being able to compute one's own taxes just seems to be the way it should be. That is, I think a citizen aught to be able to understand the tax system and that it should be simple enough for the average person to comply on their own without haveing to spend a lot of money having someone else do them. Without Turbo Tax I would no longer be able to do my own.
The feature that allows for electronically transferring all the buy and sell data from my broker account is just amazing. It makes all the difference.
This year I had to do two returns. My own and those for my partner who died in June. I was pleased to note that you even had instructions on such things as the need to file/mail hard copies of such returns as well as the information about the requirement to send a copy of the court order designating me as the executor.
I just wish you had a Turbo Tax program to use in filing Federal (and state) Estate Taxes; the next nemisis I have to face. Maybe I have to bite the bullet and hire some accountant to do it.
What's great about it: Step-by-step instruction and electronic downloading of broker data.
What's not so great: moving back and forth between screens to make corrections

Since I started using TurboTax several years ago I have been able to avoid using a CPA for tax preparation without any loss in accuracy or loss in deductions. I am 74 years old and find the instructions easy to follow and they help me to include any and all possible deductions.
What's great about it: Easy to follow step by step instructions

Annoying Deficits

I have used TT for many years and have successfully filed tax returns which often are quite complicated. However it is frustrating to "hit a brick wall" when a problem arises either due to a complicated problem or because TurboTax itself creates a problem. TurboTax diverts questions to "laymen Q/A forums" that are no better than asking your next door neighbor. Although TT keeps its prices high it avoids spending money for telephone help lines.
What's great about it: Well organized, comprehensive, small improvements year to year.
What's not so great: Despite assurance in advertisements, TurboTax goes out of its way to hide phone number that would get you advice

Good, clear and fast

I can't say I that look forward to doing taxes annually but this program makes the process a lot easier. The program gives you the option of complete handheld guidance or navigating through the applicable tax topics on your own. The menus are clear and simple to use and there are many opportunities to import or transfer information into the program electronically to save even more time. For more complicated topics there are links to more information or the option to chat with a professional. All in all a clear, well organized and solid tax preparation program.
What's great about it: Easy interface, W-2 import, prior year transfer
What's not so great: Additional information window default size and text font too small
Pros: I moved, I bought or sold investments
