Taxes are so complicated that I need help particularly to be sure of all credits and stay out of jail through some ignorant oversight. I have been trusting Turbotax for many years now and am still a free man!

Tedious for someone who knows what they are doing

The Michigan return produces an incorrect result when someone can be a dependent on another's return. Specifically, the actual form and its instructions state that if this is the case, line 9a should be "0" and line 9d should be "$1500". The embedded worksheet does not allow this when the income is less than $1500, even though taxes were withheld. At least I was able to override the incorrect result.
What's great about it: Produced necessary forms when required
What's not so great: Not able to skip irrelevant info, especially when returning to adjust one thing

I have been filing with TurboTax every year since 2004. The product gets better and easier to use every year. Downloading relevant information from the previous year saves time, as does the feature to download your W-2 information (if your payroll provider participates). This avoids miskeying errors.
The comprehensive walkthrough for any topic you desire, or all of them, gives me great confidence that my returns are accurate and fully report my tax information. The error checking accomplishes the same thing, and the risk of audit scale provides additional comfort.
All the pages of your return can be saved on your computer in pdf form in addition to accessing them through the TurboTax program.
Finally, the e-filing is a great feature, with the federal filing costing nothing. Also, I owe a bit this year, but I was able to file in March but schedule the auto-debit against my bank account closer to the filing deadline.
Save money, save time. Use TurboTax to prepare and file your returns (state and federal).
What's great about it: Easy to use, easy to navigate, comprehensive walk through on any topic you desire, downloads from previous years.
What's not so great: Software froze, needed to reinstall, but lost no data; took several tries to get the Foreign Bank Acct section
