never a problem since using TurboTax

Since using TurboTax have not had any issues with filing or worrying that my taxes could be wrong, always right on with amounts and carrying over last years information
What's great about it: always a pro when using software
What's not so great: havent found one yet!

Very satisfied for the 5th year

I'm very happy with Turbo Tax. For the last several year it has been a great help in doing my state and federal taxes. I still need to do a lot of work gathering data, but at least I'm sure it's all eing handled by turbo tax correctly.
I also do my taxes on paper worksheets. This year my calculated federal refund was $54 more that Turbo Tax. Probably my mistake. It usually goes the other way.
What's great about it: Turbo tax has thought of just about everything. Really takes the worry out of filing (well most of it anyway).
What's not so great: Difficult to know if all state deductions for medical expenses are included on the federal 1040.

I feel like an accountant

Never did I think I would be able to do my own taxes. I was encouraged by a friend who uses Turbo Tax to do same. This is the 3rd year I have done my taxes and I feel safe knowing they take you through one step at a time!! Its so easy and it gives me a sense of satifsfaction with myself.
What's great about it: Anyone with little or no experience can do this themselves.

2012 not as good as 2011

Loved turbo tax 2010 & 2011 but 2012 did not seem as user friendly. Had a big problem getting the state portion to work - got caught in a loop and we lost about 30 minutes trying to correct it. There was a help screen that ultimately provided the solution.
What's great about it: Still works
What's not so great: State Tax problems

Didn't get my refund

I was very disappointed to find that turbo tax let me efile a final tax return for my mother instead of mailing in the return with all the necessary documents. When filing a Final Return you have to file a short certificate naming you the Executor of the Estate along with a 1310. The 1310 was efiled but I received notice 5 weeks later saying it could not be accepted. That is very disappointing that Turbo Tax did not know that! I now have to send all these documents and will have to wait another 4-5 weeks for the refund.
What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: Charging me to efile my state return

Wishing I could eFile

I have to download the forms from the IRS, fill them out separately, attach them to the printed TurboTax forms and mail the tax return. I've never been able to eFile. There are about 900,000 Canadians living in the USA. Could Turbotax add these forms?
What's great about it: TT created an 8938 form
What's not so great: TT did not create 8833 and 8891

Very easy way to do your own taxes

Great way to do your own taxes. Why pay someone else to enter all your information that you can enter yourself in the comfort of your own home. It helps you really understand the kind of discounts you can get when you itemize.
What's great about it: Simple to use and understand
