It would be nice if you could generate a page showing what the Standard Deduction would be before we sit down and have to gather all the minute details we have to come up with to do the Itemized Deductions. We may not want to waste our time and energy doing the itemized deductions, especially if you are a senior citizen and time is very precious.

Confused

My VA tax credit for long term care insurance was partially filled in by TurboTax. The number made sense but when I tried to file, it kept calling the number the program filled in as an error. I could not file until I changed it to zero. Called VA tax office for help and they could not figure it out either. I almost pulled my remaining hair out.
What's great about it: Federal Tax filed without problems
What's not so great: TurboTax prefilled box continually challenged by TurboTax

Great but still room

TurboTax is a detailed program and well structured. However, some questions lead me to giving the wrong answer because the context of the form or topic of the question was lost. It appeared at times I was answering the same question two or three times when in reality I was on a different form needing a different response. This was especially apparent on state forms (PA in particular but perhaps because I am less familliar with that states accronyms). Please watch out for abreviations/anacronyms in questions.
Since I could easily explore subjects to find the error with TurboTax's topic buttons I was able to figure out where to fix the forms. This did however result in some blank/unneeded forms that could not always be deleted.

What's great about it: Great coverage of all the forms I needed with helps

Feels familiar but gets better

Turbo Tax is a familiar friend to me--I have been using it for a decade or so. By now, I understand the screens and general navigation very well. It is easy to enter charitable and other deductions, and the ability to immediately gather and enter personal information from last year's return is extremely helpful. The system is basically very user friendly and makes it easy to understand and enter the required information.
Woud I change a few things? Yes. I'd like better guidance about what I've done and where I am when I return to Turbo Tax after having quit with a return partially done. Also, I think that the system needs to remind me if a certain section of deductions, say, has not been completed. I think a step where the system reviews my entries and asks if I really want to skip a certain section would help a lot. I almost forgot this year to enter sales tax deductions, since when I left the deduction area, there was no prompt saying that I had failed to edit that area, and did I want to include sales tax deductions.
Also, what about voice entry of data? Voice input has been pretty flaky for years, b ut is now becoming very reliable.
Just a few thoughs. Basically, I love Turbo Tax. It has a solid, familiar feel, but there are improvements every year. I plan to stay with Turbo Tax, so keep up the improvements!
What's great about it: Very helpful and user friendly
What's not so great: Sometimes a bit hard to review and understand what is completed

So longs as the return isn't too complicated, TurboTax is the best. Even for more involved returns for those of us having tax preparation experience this program is satisfactory.
What's great about it: Easy to use and intuitive
