Love the fact that it shows last year 's amounts so I can compare year over year. The help on charitable deductions (value of items donated) is valuable.
What's great about it: Easy to use, love the deduction evaluator
What's not so great: State filing should be included - why does it cost extra?

OK But I Wish . . .

I have used TurboTax for years and have been well-satisfied with the results. There is plenty of depth for just about every tax issue. You can get a brief explanation of questons that you might not fully understand. Forms are complete and accurate.
Now the problem. I had a problem with the 2012 program when it made comparisons to my 2011 return. Especially on Schedule A, many items were shown as zero for 2011 and that was absolutely wrong. The 2011 .tax file showed the correct values. Comparing zero in 2011 an actual value in 2012 gave some very erroneous comparisons - even bad calculations. This issue needs to be addressed by a TurboTax program expert - not a group of users who can only guess at a possible solution. TurboTax needs to provide an on-line way (like these reviews) to report such software problems.
What's great about it: Good depth in the questions
What's not so great: No personal contact to report software bugs

problems with AL state return
on March 10, 2013
Posted by: Helengrace
2 problems I noticed:
problem #1:
on federal, I entered info on sale of my residence (I had a loss)
on Alabama state, when Turbotax asked me if I sold my residence, I said yes, but then it brought up all my sales of stocks, instead of my sale of residence data
problem #2:
on Alabama itemized deductions, Turbotax did not carry medical deductions correctly from federal return. On federal sch A, med. expenses paid from my Health Savings acct are not allowed, since on the federal return I can deduct my contributions to the HSA, and turbotax handled that correctly. But for Alabama itemized deductions, it should have carried the FULL AMOUNT of my medical expenses since AL does not allow HSA deduction contribution. Turbotax did this incorrectly, and only carried over the amount allowed on the federal sch A. I had to go back and make the adjustment manually.
What's not so great: some data did not carry correctly from federal return
