Good as usual

As always easy to use. The one downside is that the explanations don't tie directly to the formal instructions.

This is the 4th year we have used turbo tax, it is quick, easy to understand and I have always been able to get all of my questions answered. I had to gather all the same information to have the accountant do this and paid him 2-3 times as much. I can play around with numbers to see what I might do differently next year.

When I have a list of item and complete an item, it returns to the first item in the list and I must navigate to the bottom of the page to start the next item. It would be nice to have the select next at the top of the page or to return to the bottom of the page.

I find inadequate your treatment of income from a taxpayer's lease of subsurface mineral rights to energy companies or their representatives. The mineral lease typically results in a one-time lease payment that allows exploration and drilling to occur within a fixed time frame, say three years, and if subsequent to the lease execution, drilling occurs within the specified period, then the leasee energy company is entitled to renew the lease. If the drilling results in production of minerals (such as oil or gas), then the leasor of the mineral rights is usually entitled to royalities. The difficulty I have with Turbo Tax is that I find the income from the initial and subsequent leases is not clearly treated differently from the income derived from royalities. Further, Turbo Tax is very inadequate in its treatment of the depletion allowance available to the owner/leasor of the subsurface mineral estate.

Overall, turbo tax has saved us the time and effort to pay someone else to do our taxes. Especially after using qualified tax folks who either omitted items or were unsure of deductions themselves, thus causing an audit due to a fire we had experienced and its corresponding deductions as a result of the 'loss'.
What's great about it: The easy step by step process to ensure everything is identified.
What's not so great: Unable to discern what documents I should keep, if not all applied if I want to review earlier.

Turbo Tax has bugs

I got stuck in a loop when I tried to e-file my federal return. It asked me to fill in dependent info when I was at the last step of filling. The questions and flow was not clear and it kept asking for dependent info. It eventully changed my tax due to a refund amount and changed my state tax to bigger refund. Now I am not sure that Turbo Tax did in fact calculate correctly or that I did not overpay my taxes. I am going to try another software next time.

I've been using Turbo Tax for fifteen years and recommend it to my family, friends and co-workers whenever the subject of filing taxes comes up. I can't live without it!

Easy Peasy

Easy Guide worked well for me; referencing my previous year's TTax return made sure I missed nothing this year. e-Filing seems to work well and was straight forward with the guidance provided. A very efficient way to file.
