For some reason a schedule c showed up in 2012 return when I deleted all the reasons for it. I still had to tell Turbotax that I drove the vehicle before it would say there were no errors for filing. so I filled out the blanks on the Sch c and filed the return. There was no place to delete this unnecessary form.
What's great about it: Step by step really good
What's not so great: 2012 had a schedule c that did not belong and there was no way to delete it

Unless you are a glutton for punishment, TurboTax is the way to go. It would take you forever to wade through the instructions manually. TurboTax has done it for you and takes you through step-by-step to make sure nothing is overlooked and all areas are covered.
What's great about it: Great. Easy to follow steps. Covers all the bases.

Difficult for Japanese Residents

Living and working in Japan, we receive no W-2 forms. We pay taxes in Japan. However, TurboTax leads you to dead ends when it comes time to handle the taxes paid in Japan that should be deducted from any taxes you owe in the US. I had to go to the forms and fill them in. It was very time consuming and should have been handled by the easy steps guide... but it wasn't.
What's great about it: Uh...some help
What's not so great: Guides you to dead ends

Saved a lot of time and headache

I usually do my own taxes manually. This year, my tax situation changed and I just didn't have the time or energy to do my taxes manually. I considered going to a tax preparation service but thought to save myself the wait by trying out Turbo Tax for the first time. I've heard positive feedback about Turbo Tax and I wasn't disappointed. I was impressed by how intuitive the software was in guiding me step by step in preparing the tax return. Very easy, and user friendly. Turbo Tax is like having your own personal electronic tax preparer at the convenience of your own home. Would highly recommend Turbo Tax!
What's great about it: Thorough, detailed
What's not so great: None
Pros: I moved

I had a 1098 unttiled issue that could not be easily resolved. Tried all the suggestions with no success. Imported info deleted info, manually entered info. Still did not correct issue. Had to call expert. Even though the young lady was patient. It took 2hrs and multiple tries to rectify this error. I have filed now and pray that all goes well.
What's great about it: importing files
What's not so great: can't correct issues easily

Instructions not always clear. Too much junk on screen making it difficult to find what I needed.
What's not so great: tried to sell too many different services. I already paid for this and it was filled with ads.

Great for federal returns, not worth it for state.

My tax situation was a bit unusual, in that my wife was a part-time resident of two states, but not so unusual as to cause TT to be unable to handle it automatically, which is what happened. I had to manually fill out much of my form for Missouri, which is much more likely to produce errors, and I can't be sure I received all the deductions or exemption I was eligible for. If TT can't work with relatively common exceptions like part-time residency, there's not a lot of reason to fork over the huge chunk of change for TT state. I can just go a tax assistance center and have the returns prepared manually.
What's great about it: Handles the Federal return quickly and thoroughly
What's not so great: Rocky and ridiculously expensive handling of state returns
Pros: I moved
