This is the tenth year in a row I have used TurboTax. It is getting easier and easier. Why don't all banks and financial companies cooperate with Intuit to electronically provide tax records? Why do we have to pay for state eFiling?
What's great about it: easy to follow wizard
What's not so great: Requirements for eFile signature confusing

Would have given it 5 stars if I hadn't encountered the blank Box 15 dilemma. TurboTax prevented me from e-filing due to a blank Box 15 (as it also appears on my W-2). Scrolled through the questions in the TurboTax Community and after an hour found an answer. Where was the "chat w/a tax expert" section? Of course the rating would be much lower if my tax file is rejected due to "N/A" as an unacceptable response to Box 15.
What's great about it: efficient, thorough--wide field of questions asked
What's not so great: prevented from e-filing due to blank box 15

Thorough and easy!

After years of running a business and using a CPA, when I switched to Turbo Tax it was surprisingly thorough and easy to use. My transition was super easy!
What's great about it: Detailed and thorough
What's not so great: Time in front of a computer

It all seemed to work OK

Although my return is not that complex, I have a number of things that many others probably have: earned income, dividends, interest, tax free interest, capital gains, carry-overs from previous years, deductions, and foreign taxes paid. I estimate I spent about 20 hours using TurboTax to do my taxes. When TurboTax finishes and I look at the large number of pages and forms that have to be filled out and filed, I do not think it could be done without TurboTax.
What's great about it: It is thorough and complete
What's not so great: A few places were confusing and did not seem to allow me to enter all the data correctly.

I spent my career as a tax lawyer and began using Turbo Tax in the early 2000s with my own particularly difficult return. After comparing Turbo Tax results with my extensive manual computations, I found that Turbo Tax to be within pennies of my time-consuming calculations. Since then, I have been using Turbo Tax for my own returns and those of my family. Turbo Tax has saved me endless hours of frustration.

Quick and Easy Money in my Pocket

I've been using Turbo Tax since 2008 and it gets easier every year. This year I had a home loan refinanced, tuition, scholarships, and loan interest to sort through. It still took less than 2 hours to file both my federal and state returns. I ended up with money in my pocket quickly by using Turbo Tax to efile my federal return. I also appreciate the option to print and file my state return as the fee exceeds the amount I'll receive. Overall I can't imagine doing my taxes any other way.
What's great about it: Did my taxes in less than 2 hours; Option to file on paper is nice when the fee exceeds your return amount :)
What's not so great: No cons to this program
