I had to manually add stock trade commission to the IRS Form. There were many questions about selling stocks and bonds, but none about buying them. The program kept trying to sell me an upgrade. I've used Turbo Tax for over 10 years, but this may be the last year I use it. Some of the instructions were not in plain English. Looked like someone with ESL problems wrote some of the instructions. In years past, the program recognized that Texas doesn't have state income taxes. This program kept trying to start a state return.
What's great about it: I didn't find any pros to the new program
What's not so great: Very hard to find some things.

Why would you choose anyone else

We've been using TT since they got started. It's been a steady growth, and the product just seems flawless. We had some weird tax years about 10 years ago, and foolishly went to a locally recommended tax person. We checked with TT the next year, and hadn't saved a dime. We've learned, by using TT for so long, how to plan a lot better. Now, none of that "God, what will we owe" syndrome. Thanks, Intuit. Job well done!
What's great about it: So easy to use, fast as can be, NO stress with the wife/hubby
What's not so great: Had a little trouble finding the PDF to print our copy

So Easy - Year After Year

I have been using Turbo Tax for the last 3 years and love that I can feel confident that I am including everything in our income tax preparation to ensure the greatest accuracy possible - the last thing I want is to get audited for some oversight of which I was completely unaware. Turbo Tax walks me through the process every step of the way and includes explanations for many of my questions. I fell comfortable that I am doing my taxes correctly, in spite of the fact that accounting and economics have never been my area of expertise. Having the meticulously designed software assures me that I am including everything and filing my own taxes better than the chain tax preparation services. It's easy, it's clear, and this year, I even got a refund!
What's great about it: Step by Step Instructions & Explanations

Disappointed again

Last year I had a problem paying my federal taxes electronically. Hope this years works. Could not find out how much of a fee I was charged last year for state filing for deduction for this years taxes UGH. Help was not helpful. Sorry but that's 2 bad experiences in two years. Been a TurboTax person for a long time. Very disappointed right now!
What's great about it: Backwards Compatable somewhat
