See note above about extra fee for filing state return. Should be in the price of the product. This is the same as the airlines asking me to pay for my checked baggage. Make the fee all inclusive for federal and one state.
What's great about it: Very easy to work with; even as a CPA, I like ease.
What's not so great: I think that the cost of a single state return should be included in the price of the software. It irrates me to pay .

The choices get confusing for each division. Each year I use the program I think it would be easier to see the tax form be filled in as I finish a section. That way I could see the progress of the lines on the tax form being filled in and not feel that something is being missed..
What's great about it: Many Catagories

Wasn't as user frieldly as I had hoped. I was stumped in several areas as to how to make changes. Still don't know if I handled rental car usage for business correctly for I had to go to the forms themselves to make entries.
Also didn't like that turbo tax asked for changes after I had gotten everything checked and passed and then got ready to e-file. It had to do with entering actual sales tax rather than standrd, which I never did find out how to enter so at the last minute my taxes increased by $300, what a suprise.
I have used turbotax for several years but this year was particularly confusing and I had no new topics just new numbers. Something changed in your format to make it harder to follow.
Think I'll search for an easier method next year.

Slow Forms

Forms for filing were not available in a timely manner. IRS released forms and it took Turbotax several weeks to get forms into program.
What's great about it: Easy to enter information
What's not so great: Had to wait for forms to be ready

Not the best

For the third year, when the amount I paid in state taxes last year was transferred to this years tax return. The wrong amount was transferred. This makes me wonder if any other values were incorrect. Also the program took very long to load, and would often lock up, and would have to be restarted. The updater seemed to be the problem, hanging for long periods.
What's great about it: did the job
What's not so great: did not work well with windows 8

2012 state and federal returns

Very easy.quick and painless. Have used turbotax for the last 5 years and will continue to. For me , it is the best and easiest to use. Makes filling out the IRS tax forms easy.

my ny state return was rejected. i was asked to verify that my birthday was correct, however, the automatic steps turbotax took me through to resolve this discrepancy did not take me to this area, and did not find any discrepancies after rechecking the return. It allowed me to resubmit without making any changes. Before re-submittal, I reviewed the review copy and verified my birthday was correct as originally transferred from the Federal return. I should know in 2 days whether this return was accepted. if not, i will be calling you to resolve.
What's great about it: easy steps to follow for entering info
What's not so great: poor resolution of rejected returns
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
