One thing; we had an inheritance this year and I don't recall any question being asked specifically about it "Did you recieve any inheritance this year", etc. I think this is a flaw and should be added. I had to go back and find the form by doing a serch of the document number the lawyer gave me, then I found the place to enter the info.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: None really

The TurboTax Deluxe software was unable to find my Internet connection for federal or state e-file, even though it could connect for updates, payment for the state e-file and the Community forum.
What's not so great: Couldn't e-file fed or state

Too dumbed down

I've been using Turbo Tax for the last five years. Got audited for a mistake in 2010, and almost made the same mistake this year. Turbo Tax DOES NOT catch some really basic errors, so buyer beware. Personally I think the product is "dumbed down" so much, that you have no idea where you are in the actual process of filling out the required forms. That's ok if mistakes are always caught, but they ARE NOT!
What's great about it: Importing data
What's not so great: Doesn't catch simple errors

Works, but UI improvements needed

Generally good and easy to use, but there are a few user interface improvements that could be made: 1) sort lists like charities, making it a whole lot easier to compare with my spreadsheet; 2) don't EVER use web browser password field style text input fields. I'm looking at my W-2, and the input field for some fields goes ****** as I'm trying to type a number. Think people: if someone's looking over my should they can just as well read my W-2 to see the same number.
What's great about it: Does tax better than I could on paper
What's not so great: Lists like charities should be sorted, but they're not.

Happy again!

We have used Turbo Tax Deluxe since 1998. Filing every year is easier and faster than the previous year. My wife and I have a 2 income family with an empty nest and a simple tax landscape. I have confidence in the product and have never been audited. Using Turbo Tax helps me to be somewhat knowledgable about tax filing, yet it handles the complexities of our tax laws. The price is very reasonable compared to having our taxes prepared profesionally. Turbo Tax is a great product and I wholeheartedly recommend it!
What's great about it: Less time spent each successive year. Easy to file. Minimal amount of paper. Confidence in acceptance of return.
What's not so great: None.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Turbo tax did wonders as always

I've always been able to thoroughly and carefully do my taxes with turbo tax for 6 plus years now. Its just been a little difficult the past 2 years because 2 years ago I got married so there was a whole new world of filing taxes and what could and couldn't be done. Plus the situation with my husband and I with him being a resident of another state de to work while I reside in another state for the time being. But we were relieved when I was able to file for head of household since he never lived here during the year and I paid for more than half of the expenses to run the house, so we were really happy with the outcome. Hopefully we won't have to amend our taxes like last year and go back and forth with the IRS, but even that wasn't a bad experience. We were just glad that when we called to speak with a tax professional about our situation we were given sound solid advice as to what to do.
What's great about it: having my questions answered by a tax professional, help tabs to explain a section, very easy to navigate
What's not so great: the long wait times when calling in to speak to someone

This is my first time filing with education expenses and I found that area a bit confusing, especially with scholarships. I finally figured out what I needed to enter, but it took some extra research. Other than that, Turbo Tax is always easy to use. This year the layout seemed easier to go back and make corrections during the process. That is an improvement! Thanks
What's great about it: Walks me through each area step by step

calculation error

I had a total income of 45,000, of which 28,000, was from social security. I had W-2 of 1,500, with a deduction of 358, for fed taxes. According to turbo tax I owed 485 to the feds, which I paid. According to turbotax, I am paying 843.00 on the income of 17,000. ( I believe 25,000 of the social security income is exempt).
Let me know if I am missing something.
I am sure that when the IRS sees this I will get refunded for the difference. (maybe not)
Please respond to this. I could be wrong. I just need an explanaton. I have entered this same information throught your other media, but have no respond. Like I said, I have filed and let's see what happens. Shoul be interesting. thanks and waiting for your resonse.
What's great about it: state tax okay
What's not so great: calculation error
