Clean as a Whistle

I have used Turbo Tax software for the past 10 yrs and have never had an issue or problem with the software. Love the audit defense as well, keeping my fingers crossed anyway.
What's great about it: Very user friendly
What's not so great: None other than having to file taxes.

K-1's in TurboTax leave you feeling deflated

I have used TT for several years. It is quite nice for those with earned income, investment income that can be downloaded from your financial institution, and itemized deductions.
However, once I bought a publicly traded partnership (PTP), my taxes evolved to beyond what TurboTax can reasonably handle. I would recommend that anyone with K-1's from a PTP pay an accountant, unless you like running lots of scenarios to tell whether TT actually uses the K-1 values according to the partnership instructions. The state tax side of the K-1's is particularly weak.
What's great about it: Data entry is easy
What's not so great: You cannot always tell how the data will be used

Getting easier each year

Turbo Tax is a complete tax return machine for people who don't really need an accountant.
What's great about it: Multiple views - work on what you have ready
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

What a surprise!

Left this til the just before due date, thought I was going to have to go through all my receipts in order to get a refund from the State in order to pay the IRS (happened last year), but this year I had refunds for both! What a surprise and it only took me about 30 minutes to complete and file! (Took longer to organize the paperwork!!!)
What's great about it: How quickly it was done!
What's not so great: Nothing!

Best tax experience possibile

I use Turbo Tax every year, and it makes doing my taxes much less of a chore. The calculations are all done for me, and it walks me through deductions so I know I'm getting the best refund possible.
What's great about it: Easy, clear, explanatory, pleasant

Total Integration of Federal & State Return!!!

Turbo Tax is one of the best software bargains available if you like doing your own taxes, which I highly recommend as there is no better way to get a good look at your financial situation. I did this manually up until 2009, but could not go on without the support of software. I helped my daughter use a competing product and, quite frankly, it stunk. Where Turbo Tax struggles a bit is helping you understand some of the more esoteric forms--like the crazy foreign tax credit deductability stuff I got into this year. Turbo just didn't provide enough guidance to help remedy the errors it found.
What's great about it: Totally integrated my federal and state info--CA was an easy file
What's not so great: Struggled with foreign tax credit forms

The Viatical Nightmare!

Took too long to file taxes, had to consult IRS and other tax professionals including two CPAs. Need to incorporate guidance for filing gains/losses for viaticals. Turbo tax looped me over and over again, asking the same questions and not allowing me to continue.
What's great about it: imports information from previous years, most areas are straight forward and easy to follow
What's not so great: need to address viaticals and have guidance for filing for gains or losses of viaticals
