Preparing 2012 Federal and State Returns

Outstanding product. I've been using the TuboTax software program since 2008 and have never had a problem.
What's great about it: Exceptional software program. Very thorough and quick. Plenty of useful guides and tips along theway.

I have been using TurboTax (and Quicken financial software) for over ten years, and am very satisfied with the thoroughness of both programs, and the time I am able to save in dealing with my financial records.
Once I have collected all my forms and reports for the tax year, it is relatively simple matter of entering the data in the appropriate fields in a very organized and logical manner. The TurboTax "interview" method of entering data is very well designed to ensure that I enter data in proper order and that I don't overlook proper income and deduction entries in the process. I especially like the complete review at the end of the preparation.
I am pleased to know that the calculations are performed accurately and that I have saved much preparation time (and associated frustration) in the whole process.
What's great about it: TurboTax becomes even easier to use with each new version.

2012 Tax Returns

Overall, great program, easy to use. This was first year that I had no business deductions so was easier than before. I especially like the opportunity to sign up for professional representation if audited. I was a little confused on the deductions, TurboTax indicated that with my/our (joint return) the standard deduction was most advantageous but my printed return indicates that itemized deductions were used. I think that this was the correct direction but am confused as to which were really applied.
What's great about it: Easy to use, good guidance and easy instructions. Have been using TurboTax for 6 years and see improvements each year.
What's not so great: Some confusion, instructions indicated that standard deductions were advised but return indicates that itemized ded. use
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Once again TurboTax took some of the hassle out of filing taxes. This is probably my tenth year using TurboTax.

2012 updates at the wire for extension...

We cashed in some Coverdell accounts for college costs. The Turbotax worksheets did not explain well the (very complicated) worksheets and cost basis calculations needed in order for us to maximize the deduction, while also complying with the 'earned income' declaration for current tax year.... As it turns out, this was caught by a CPA's review, and forced us to re-do some of the work by hand.
maybe there's always something tricky like this.
Otherwise, I do like the product, and would recommend it's use.
What's not so great: worksheet help needed....

This really is a great product. I think it is expensive but then I compare the price of a CPA and always buy Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: easy to use, covers all areas
What's not so great: still a bit slow but better than it used to be.
