Works well with common sence entries and questions.
TN does not have a state income tax for most people. There are a very limited number of people who need to file and I am not one of them. The program still wanted me to file and print the forms even though it said the tax did not apply to me???
What's great about it: Updates well with prior year info
What's not so great: Wants to print my state taxes when I don't need them.

Federal use and filing very smooth and seamless.
Federal filed e-file.
State NOT seamless...since I could not file e_file anyway.
NEVER figured out hos.

Worked OK

I've been using Turbo Tax since 1998. I've loved the way it is user friendly and is always looking to get you the biggest return possible. However, for the last three years it has not been so helpful. This is when my oldest child went off to college. He received a full scholarship for tuition and room and board which was awesome until tax time. As I was answering the questions in turbo tax they were confusing and not very clear as to the data I needed to enter. Specifically, when I entered the data from the 1098-T my refund increased by almost $4,000. I can understand that happening if I had paid out of pocket expenses, but I paid less than $1,000 for my son to attend college that year. So, I went through the section again more slowly. I read IRS pub 970 about education and taxes. I went through turbo tax again, and still I was receiving back almost $4,000 more than I should have. I knew this wasn't right, so at this point I went through the form 8863 the old fashioned way line by line and figured out what needed to be entered. This put my refund back where it should have been and probably saved me an audit. I was hoping it would be easier the 2nd and 3rd year, but the wording in turbo tax still needs some work in the education section.
What's great about it: Took last year's data and transferred
What's not so great: Some questions were confusing

I will buy my 2013 version in the store next year to get the lowest price
I can't understand why I would pay more for your product in the case where I give you 8 months notice that you have a sale than in the case where I buy it at the last minute.
Unless it is of no advantage to you to make the lowest price for signing up for automatic renewal or I am just not that bright.

Helping Hands

I personally want to thank the helpful advice from your agent Sonna. Miss Sonna was very patient and courteous. She always followed up with me and did not hang up until I had all my questions answered and she had completely given me all the advice she had for my situation. I started out very frustrated but after talking to Sonna, I hung up with hope and was very relieved and happy. Thank you for your talents with taxes.
