always a great product

I've used TurboTax for many years with good results. It's certainly better than doing it on paper. And I know all the right items will be available for filing.
What's great about it: helps me remember all the places to check
What's not so great: have to buy it each year

Great Saver

Couldn't have done my taxes without Turbo Tax. Filing has become a nightmare unless you have a Tax software to guide you through the myraid of laws, forms etc.
What's great about it: Easy enough that a learner could use it.
What's not so great: It's deductible needs to be more friendly

It seemed to a little easier to use this year. Not quite as intrusive.
What's great about it: Seemed like it was easier this year.

Been using TurboTax since it was only available on floppy disk. Been audited 3 times, no penalties or interest and lots of support when needed. KEEP YOUR RECEIPTS and TurboTax will be there to support you.
What's great about it: Ease of Input, Transfer of Prior Year Data
What's not so great: Year to Year Changes Do Not Always = Improvement

Problems with e-filing
on April 22, 2013
Posted by: Ted0519
I completed my return and then attempted to e-file as I always do. I was unable to e-file. Turbo tax stated that there were updates that I needed to manually download before I could e-file. I downloaded, following turbo tax instructions, but still could not e-file. I re-tried several times, then gave up and filed by mail. This was an inconvenience and should not have occurred, since I am a MAC user and all downloads are supposed to come automatically. I was able to e-file the state return, but not the (free) Federal return. This was a frustrating experience that I do not wish to repeat.
What's great about it: Carryover from prior year and downloading of some documents directly
What's not so great: Unable to e-file return
Pros: I bought or sold investments

data entry -- donating car to public radio
on April 22, 2013

the VIN number and other details kept disappearing, after leaving turbotax and returning. so I must have to entered it 5 or 6 times as I worked on my taxes.
Also in the pull down box on how car was valued, there was not a choice for "actual auction value", i ended up puting present value in turbo tax, and had writing in the info on the paper form i submitted to the IRS.
Also, there is still some info from prior years forms that I had to go look up and enter by hand, even though most was imported from prior year. This was in area of AMT, but simple AMT, not extensive alternate AMT basis info.
This is not the first time this has happened for AMT. something about carry forward amount from last year.
I'm sorry i can't remember the exact form and line.
I added another complaint after trying to submit my review.
Making us pick a unique nick name is ridiculousness.
Who ever decided that was a good idea, but have thought there were only 10 or 20 users of turbotax.
What's not so great: three areas that there were issues.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Finished my taxes

Overall I have been very satisfied with turbo tax but there are a few issues. For example, I never received a w-2 from one of our employers and just about left some information off of our taxes. It wasn't until I was ready to send our taxes off that I was asked to give some important numbers. I do like the convenience of doing taxes over a few months.
What's great about it: Good product to do your taxes
What's not so great: Sometimes there's missed information.

Turbo Tax Put A Smile On My Face This Year !!
on April 22, 2013

I have been using Turbo Tax for 15 years; Each year it gets better, they "Tweak" their program to stay up with the times and our changing economy. They stay constant with all the "Changes in Tax Laws", and insure the consumer gets what they deserve. I haven't always gotten a Refund, but when that does happen, Turbo Tax checks every possible area- making sure I have claimed or listed every possible deduction, donation, interest or debt-from dependents to house, to medical and banking issues, they touch on it all. Stuff that I would not even think about, and I work with numbers every day...TURBO TAX has your BACK !!!
What's great about it: This program questions, then finds every possible scenerio, to getting you back money that everyone needs and deserves.
What's not so great: Unless you FLAG an area, it is difficult to go back thru the entire tax preparation when you second guess an issue.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
