You can do your own taxes with Turbo Tax!

Turbo tax really does make it simple for most people to do their own taxes. The ability to import last year's return also speeds up the process a lot.
What's great about it: Definitely takes the hassle out of preparing your own tax return.
What's not so great: Didn't provide much assistance for Miscellaneous Income (this is a pretty broad area)

Review of Turbo Tax 2012
on April 17, 2013

I liked the fact that everything seemed to be covered and one can go into the details as much as desired. This was a complex return this year including two different sch C's, unemployed income, social security income, depreciation, car mileage, home office and lots of back ground calculating going on. However, I was able to get through it okay and felt the return was right and all the bases had been covered by the Turbo Tax software. Have been using Turbo Tax now for several years.
What's great about it: Detailed, Confident of Results, Ease of Use,
What's not so great: Changes confusing, Lost in going back and forth to make changes.

Dissatisfaction with Federal Filing
on April 17, 2013

I am not a happy camper. I have been using your product for ;years with good results. If filed my federal taxes around the first of april. Knowing I owed money I asked per the software efile request that the money be deducted from my account the friday 4/12 before the 15th deadline. All of the prompts were there in place including deducting from my accountl
I had to travel out of town due to work. I checked on tax day and found out my account was not debited. I just got home today with the computer that has turbotax on it and found it did not get released when I checked on status.
there was a blank row in the automobile tax worksheet and it was not sent. I just now got a confirmation that it was filed (two days late). Not sure what happens now.

Taxt Time and Turbo Tax
on April 17, 2013

Turbo Tax is our go to tax software. I tried others to include free options and keep coming back. I was very quickly to input W2 data. However I had one W2 from Storm Sandy that may have been tax exempt, but did not see the option.
The W4 option is not what I would call simple. I had better luck with a paper copy and the IRS instructions.
Overall a good product, hopefully the IRS will start doing this so Intuit can develop meaningful financial products for the Mac.
What's great about it: Easy to use out of the box, state taxes integrated well
What's not so great: The push for other products such as quicken. Wish the W-4 option was easier to use

I have used TurboTax since the days of DOS and dot matrix printers. Having moved through every version of Windows and MacOS, it just gets better and better.
What's great about it: Easy, quick, self explanatory

First bad experience in many years
on April 17, 2013

I've been a user of Turbo-Tax for as long as I can remember and, until now, have loved and recommended it. This year, however, I was required to file a second state return for the first time because I had sufficient outside income (apparently in Turbo Tax's opinion) to require this. I found the process of filing the second state return to lead to several problems. First, a "blank" entry was identified pertaining to the deductible portion of self-employment tax and the software gave me no guidance what to do about that. Second, when I filed this second state return electronically, it was rejected. When I checked the Turbo Tax error message, I found nothing wrong; that is, the things the error message told me to examine were all fine, as far as I could tell. So I had to file this state return by mail. We'll see what happens but I was disappointed with this experience and also puzzled because Turbo Tax always prepares my state-of-residence return just fine, as it did this year, too.
What's great about it: Until now, have been very pleased with Turbo-Tax
What's not so great: This year, a second state return analysis didn't go well
