I thought this worked pretty well but I thought last year I had at least one free efile for Michigan.
What's great about it: Fairly thorough
What's not so great: Didn't appreciate having to pay for the Michigan efile.

I like using Turbo Tax, and am comfortable with the formatting and layout of screens. Ease of use is good with the automatic secondary screens with related questions associated with input.
What's great about it: It was easy to see what was needed to update. I like the ability to ask questions of others, who responded very fast.
What's not so great: It was not as easy to get into the IRS publications. I was also not able to easily replicate asking questions.

Almost perfect, but one major glitch with my file

I've used TurboTax for years without any problem. This year everything was going fine until I was near the end and needed to save. I got the Error: 4 dreaded message! Also I couldn't delete the transfered info from It's Deductible to try to reload it. The info on the community support and everything else that was listed on the support page didn't work. I would have liked to have been able to explain to a support person what was happening. I did report the problem, but the form said I would not get a response, which I desperately needed. Drawing too close to the 15th, I had to print what I had done and start all over with a new file. Despite all this, I love TurboTax and really like being able to do these things: list my charitible contributions to get the value of items, transfer my previous year's info into the current year, have calculations automatically done, and have TurboTax cover all situations when guiding me through. For many years I have recommended TurboTax to lots of my friends.
What's great about it: Guides you through process, easy to use, love It's Deductible feature, love the transfer feature from previous year
What's not so great: had an error message when trying to save, could not call support

Excellent, after all these years

I have used Turbo Tax for about 4 years and it continues to do everything I need even as my situation changes.
What's great about it: Still gets the job done
What's not so great: None worth noting
Pros: I moved, My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Breathing easy

Turbo Tax 2012 seems to have improved the walk-through process to skip sections that do not apply to my profile. I rely on the reputation of Turbo Tax to spot errors that need to be corrected. With 26 pages, the filing process is tedious so I appreciate the improvements for 2012.
What's great about it: Convenient and user friendly process
What's not so great: nothing significant

I'll never go back....

For years I have been doing my own taxes by hand, except for a couple of years when I paid an accountant to do them. An accounting firm charges more than I would like to pay. So I decided to try TurboTax for the first time this year. TurboTax is the best! It is SO much better than doing them by hand.
However I had problems when I wanted to re-run the wizard to try different filing status (Head of Household, etc). There were fields I couldn't get access to again, and finally I had to start all over again at the beginning. There was also information still on the form that had been deleted. The state return had different info than the federal for my Schedule C business and I never could find how to fix it.
I think it is very important to look at the preview copy and to save it to a file just to double-check everything. I printed copies and as a backup I could have mailed those instead of e-file. In the end, though, it was still better than doing it by hand.
What's great about it: ... to doing my taxes by hand! TurboTax is awesome and to me is well worth the price!
What's not so great: Couldn't always get back to the data entry screen I needed. Difficult to delete some information once entered.
