Made it so Easy

Everything was painless and quick and really easy to understand. The only thing I didn't like was that for a regular person like me it offered services that I really didn't need just to get more money. But you could choose to skip that section and still do it for free which was really cool.
What's great about it: was quick and painless
What's not so great: even if you buy the hard copy they still want money for some services
Pros: I moved, My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Excellent Process - As Painless as Possible

This product gets better every year. If Turbo Tax could just come here and drag me to the computer and make me start filing my taxes, all would be fine! :)
What's great about it: Easy to Understand
What's not so great: Have to enter date/address/description of every donation to the same charity instead of just total for year

I've used Turbo Tax for the past 6 years it is an excellent tool for doing what is sometimes an unpleasant task (taxes) I have only had slight issues with using a purchased disk as opposed to downloading the software. However the support person was great and walked me right through my issues.
What's great about it: ease of use, precise answers and cost
What's not so great: Not a real big con but a little confusion with e-fling

Great software. I will continue to highly recommend TurboTax!!
What's great about it: Turbo Tax was great again this year! I would not attempt to complete my own returns without it!.
What's not so great: It was difficult to input sales tax on a new vehicle using a different tax percentage from the standard Texas 8.25% .

Did a great job, but with some frustrations

We have investments with qualified and non-qualified dividends, short and long-term gains, and some foreign taxes paid and non-paid. Turbotax put all those numbers in the right places and properly treated the foreign tax paid as a credit to our tax owed. We also have IRAs, now with RMDs (required minimum distributions), and some of the IRAs have a pre-taxed basis. Turbotax figured all the taxable and non-taxable distributions according to the IRA bases, and determined we owed no AMT.
In doing the Iowa tax return, most of it went well, but there were frustrations. The interest income was transferred from the Federal numbers, as usual, and put into a table. Turbotax left the first 20 lines of the table blank, and started the non-blank entries in line 21. This is not unusual for Turbotax, but what WAS unusual was that it then treated the 20 blank lines as ERRORS! I finally manually moved the actual non-blank entries up to the top of the table, so there were no leading blank lines. That required using the "Override" feature, which I wouldn't have known about had I not used Turbotax for many years.
Two more mistakes I found in reviewing the Iowa forms: I had to make certain that Federally non-taxable interest and dividends were treated as taxable on the Iowa return, and in checking for that, I found that all such income was attributed to "taxpayer" and none to "spouse", ignoring the ownership tags which were input as part of the Federal "EasyGuide". Also, in the Federal EasyGuide for Deductions, it asked for the DEDUCTIBLE portion of auto licenses, which we figured and entered. Then, in the Iowa calculations, it took those DEDUCTIBLE numbers as the full license fee, and again subtracted the non-deductible part to yield a REDUCED deduction for auto licenses. Again, I had to use the Override.
What's great about it: Handled all the complex forms and calculations for IRAs with RMDs and pre-taxed bases
What's not so great: Encountered some frustrations with the Iowa return, detailed below

Turbo Tax Review

I wouldn't have anything but turbo tax. My grandfather introduced me to this program a few years ago and I have been e-filing every since. I don't see the point in taking taxes to someone else when I could quickly and easily do them myself.
What's great about it: Easy to get around the site
What's not so great: Expensive
Pros: I had a baby, My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved
