User Friendly Tool

I forgot to enter the Custodian Fee and Adviser Fee for my investment in the Other Expenses section. Turbo Tax marked it as "Need Review" (or something like this) in green. But I didn't pay attention to it. Turbo Tax allowed me to go all way to the filing step without reminding me that there was still an item needed to review. Luckily, I went over all the items one more time before I hit the button to submit the filing, and I found that item marked in green. After I put in the amount for the Custodian Fee and Adviser Fee, my tax return increased substantially. It would be nice to show a warning sign or a reminder during the Error Checking process when there are items that need to be revisited.
What's great about it: easy to use, explanation on complex tax rules, get refund fast
What's not so great: no reminder for the "Need Review" items before filing
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Could be better

In the interest of helping to maximize deductions, the software had me do numerous calculations for deductions that could not be realized. How about having the software automatically estimate the amount that the deduction would have to be prior to asking the user to enter all the related info? With that enhancement, I wouldn't have bothered with many of the deductions, and would have saved lots of time.
Another very annoying deficiency is not being able to find the source of a derived field. On at least the Mac version, a right click does not show a context menu with such an option. I wasted a great deal of time on this, and had to enter overrides that ended up causing big errors.
What's great about it: Automates tedious calculations; helps find deductions
What's not so great: Lots of wasted effort on unrealizable deductions; not intuitive how to change derived fields

I loved the experience...it was easy and quick!

Overall, I would use Turbo Tax over and over again. There was no room for mistakes with my taxes. Turbo Tax was efficient and helped me get a refund!!!!

What's not so great: Had a question on one item but if had read further it would have been answered. Please put all info in one place

Turbo Tax makes completing tax forms easy. I like the step-by-step process. I like being able to go back and edit.
What's great about it: I love the fact that I don't have to pay someone else to prepare my refunds.
What's not so great: I don't like having to pay more tax.

Turbotax Rocks

Year after year I come back to TurboTax for our entire families needs. This year especially with the death of my spouse. It really helped me to know what to enter and what to exclude. The government paperwork was confusing and contradictory at best. With this program over the years we have filed small business tax returns included startup costs, gains and losses. Personal taxes only take about an hour and most of that can be transferred from prior years software, (unless you get a new computer and forget to back up on a flash before the hard drive gets wiped!!)
