Need to review the amount that is not taxable in Hawaii & adjust accordingly
What's great about it: Turbo Tax will automatically transfer info from federal form
What's not so great: Turbo Tax will not automatically credit pensions correctly
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

What's great about it: Quick and easy makes it nice and breezy. Everything one needs is at the fingertips.
What's not so great: It so fast an easy I didn't take the time to read some of the instructions. Had to go back and correct some errors.

It's simple to file last minute income tax return
on April 16, 2013

Washington State doesn't have "State Tax" ... and it could be a simple mistakes for a filer to skip "State sales tax" calculation. Should add #even you don't pay State tax# next to the list. Otherwise, Turbotax makes my filing so easy and quick at the last minute. Thank you!
What's great about it: The guidance is so easy to follow
What's not so great: Needs warning sign on "State sales tax

what the??

I completed my federal tax return and went to my state return when I was instructed to go back to the federal return and enter my previous years state tax return as additional income. How did that get missed? I don't know (poor wording and hidden as one of the rarely happens questions) . It took me a bit to find it then had to input multiple other numbers as I had itemized that year. It then recalculated my refund to be less :(. I would have rather found that out before it was initially completed with a higher return- it got my hopes up. I went back to the state taxes but it did not summarize things as well as the federal form and I had to switch midway from a short form to long form because I make over $50,000. Couldn't that question be asked prior to starting on the short form? I believe in past years it was if I am not mistaken. At the end to top it all off , just when I thought my next button was to be send to efile the returns up pops another box with still one more error that needed to be corrected. I had put a zero in some random box on one of the forms that needed to be blank instead Grrrrrrrr! So previously when the form was checked for errors it missed one??? Adding the ever increasing price of the product, the added 'processing fee' as well as the efile fee knowing my filings are really very simple- single income no added forms, I may just go see my friend's accountant next year. She will at least offer me coffee and cookies :-}
What's great about it: do it yourself in your own time
What's not so great: slower to catch errors and flow not as clean and smooth as other years.

My 2012 TTax exercise
on April 16, 2013

TTax allows you to go back and add/correct entries. Easy to navigate; good tips & explanations. Good at explaining where you are in the process & makes you double check everything (a good thing). This is my 4th year with TTax - love how it has stored pertinent info & numbers from previous years, saving lookup time. I do wish it would offer eFile option of the extension, because by the time I realized no other app would let me eFile, I had to just submit my completed forms at 11:52 pm and pray!
What's great about it: Organized, simple entries, good tips & explanations, instant feedback (returns)
What's not so great: 1-After input (1040), return user to last item instead of top;2-eFile extension from TTax (no mail-in)

I have been using it for years. My only gripe is that I have to pay for the state filing, so I use CalFile
What's great about it: carryover data from previous years is great
What's not so great: still need to know some of the details
