A good, straight-forward guide to taxes :-)

I enjoyed the product and was done with the preparation while my child was napping :-)
What's great about it: Easy to follow, thorough, positive feedback
What's not so great: Had to log off and log on to proceed with State taxes

This year it wasn't so easy.

This year we did a Health Savings account for my wife and for myself for 2012, but not through our employers. I retired in Sept. and went onto Medicare then. My wife worked all year. It took me several different attempts to figure out how to imput these facts into Turbotax correctly this year.
Getting my tax free municipal bond dividendes to show up in the right place also added some confusion. The same can be said for the taxes that I paid on my automobiles. We didn't do our own HSA's last year, but I didn't seem to have any trouble with the muni bond dividends or the auto taxes last year. I kept looking for a help phone number to call about some of these things, but I didn't see one. I guess that would add a lot of cost.
I think that I spent a lot of time on my return this year, maybe almost as much as I used to spend when I used to do it manually.

very painful experience

the foreign tax stuff is a killer this year. form 8938 is very difficult to fill out. lots of redo . need a fix for next year.
What's great about it: some stuff transferred
What's not so great: the foreign tax 8938 information did not transfer properly from previously entered information
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Turbotax user for several years now and wouldn't switch to anything else. Saves tons of time over doing all the calculations yourself. Still takes a half day to input info after organizing receipts, but the program helps a lot. Did like the detailed side-by-side review at the end in year's past and how return compared to others in similar income category.
What's great about it: Saves time faqs helpful
What's not so great: where did side-by-side review go??

I love that I can look at last years numbers to see what I might have missed and compare where amounts are higher or lower.
What's great about it: remembers info from past years, compares last year to current
What's not so great: updates every time I work on my taxes

I've been a long time user and this product just gets better and easier every year!! I recommend it to everyone and anyone that talks about taxes! The year over year comparisons go the extra mile to help you remember things you might otherwise forget and the checks/reviews at the end really give you peace of mind.
