Although there are many things that don't apply to just an average person, the things that do are complete and easy to detail.

The best there is!

After 25 years, Team TurboTax is still at the top of its game. Always on top of the many (and sometimes last-minute) changes from our friends at the IRS, Team TurboTax consistently provides user-friendly input of tax data and expert analyses and recommendations at every decision point. I can't imagine an outside accountant spending the amount of time to find every possible deduction that TurboTax does, and I firmly believe that more money stays in my wallet with TurboTax than with any other tax helper. There is no way I would ever trust my tax return with anything or anybody other than TurboTax.
What's great about it: Better handling of medical expenses between federal & state
What's not so great: MACRS depreciation - where does it go?

Turbo Tax guides you through each step. Key terms are explained clearly and you can backtrack and make changes at any point during the process.

Easy to use and navigate. Its a whole lot cheaper than having a CPA do it.
What's great about it: informative and understandable

Is there really another tax preparation application? With even complex tax situations, TurboTax never fails to get me through the process cleanly and clearly every year. There is nothing else I would ever use!
What's great about it: Ease of use, help section is clear, and somehow, they've taken the complex Federal tax code and made it simple.
What's not so great: None really. I got a little lost on depreciating some business assets, but that was quickly solved!

I have been Turbo tax user for almost 15 years. Had a pro do it once when divorce required a pro, it was harder than doing it on Turbo tax myself. Easy to use.
I use it for several rental properties and a construction business, plus the cap gains.
