In mid-2012 we took in our nephew as a foster child and hope the adoption will be final soon (May 2013). TurboTax walked me through all of the deductions I did not originally consider or think I was entitled to. I confirmed them via several websites. Our refund is now nearly $2,000 more than it would have been if I did them by hand.

saved my sanity

This year has been extremely difficult for my family. With several members of the family having life threatening illnesses and others requiring major delicate spinal surgeries. Having turbotax eased a great burden on us.
What's great about it: very easy to step through
What's not so great: had some connectivity problems when trying to ask questions

Adequate and safe

"Back" button is sometimes unpredictable. After you finish a section and try to go back you will often end up at the main section with a list of options without any indication of where exactly you came from last.
No Mint connection. You'd think since they're owned by the same company you would be able to import at least some information from their personal finance software.
What's great about it: Simple, secure, running total
What's not so great: "Back" button is sometimes unpredictable, No Mint connection

Clergy taxes a breeze

A lot of my pastor friends I know pay other people to have their taxes done, but really you can save your money with Turbotax because it's not that hard. Turbotax asks you easy to follow questions. I've been able to do my taxes in a day.
What's great about it: Turbotax understands clergy taxes
What's not so great: none

I've used Turbo Tax before and will again, just because I can do it in my pajamas.
What's great about it: It's less expensive and faster than a tax preparer
What's not so great: It's not always clear what to do.

My husband usually does the taxes but I wanted to help him out and give it go this year. This is my first time using TurboTax and I found it to be truly easy and not stressful. The last time I did taxes was 1997 using the paper forms.
What's great about it: Quick and Easy

it was a little more complicated to get my taxes done with turbo-tax it took me two days and many hours just to be able to send and pay
