2012 Turbo Tax , my opinion

When I did taxes by hand, I knew exactly where I was in the process. With TurboTax,, I end up going on faith as the logical progression becomes murky. The schedules needed to go with the 1040 seem to include the worksheets even when I specify required forms only. I might have to do a year by hand to get familiar with the requirements again.
What's great about it: Accurate and fast
What's not so great: Often lost in the process

Sooo Easy!

This is the first time I have used TurboTax....I have always had my taxes prepared by a tax professional. This was so easy and I was always confident I was entering the correct information in the correct spot!
What's great about it: So easy to use...guided me step by step. I felt confident that I was entering the correct information

As good as a tax filing experience can be

Overall, this software is fairly decent. It's the convoluted tax code that's more to blame for the issues of user experience.
What's great about it: Good wizard to walk thru filing
What's not so great: Complicated when it comes to error correction process
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Gets better each year

I have been using Turbotax since it was MacInTax 1.0. It has gotten better each year since TurboTax and MacinTax were merged. It is now a very mature product that makes doing taxes as painless as "doing taxes" can be. The "Easy Guide" method has features that skip most of the unnecessary steps helping you to get through the forms maze quite quickly. I used to spend a week or more looking, reading and navigating through many dead-ends that were not needed. This year I did everything in one afternoon.
What's great about it: Easy step by step or direct entry into forms
What's not so great: Cute personalizations are campy. Upgrade suggestions are bothersome.

Another quick run-through

I always find TurboTax good at capturing details, but less so at planning. If you're near a phase-out for something like AMT or Roth IRAs, it would be better to tell you up front instead of waiting for you to enter it and then tell you that you don't qualify. Information from my Federal filing didn't make it into my state return.
What's great about it: Found everything where I expected it
What's not so great: Still needed a couple of passes to get everything I did last year
