Turbo Tax for 2012

Easy navigation, covers all the bases. I miss the easy reference link to IRS and other inquery data bases that were included in past versions. Not too comfortable using advice on the forums provided as can't be sure if these are creditable tax experts.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Purchase price and cost of filing state return

2012 tax review

I had a difficult time with 1099 misc for example:
1099 misc stipend for Insurance, the place of employment from which I retired, after age 65 would not keep any retiree on their insurance, but choose to pay a stipend each month for me to pay a portion of my own insurance. No example of this was shown, I had to show it as income for turbo tax to accept it.
In my opinion there should be a federal law to enforce companies with retirees of 25 years or more of service remain on their health insurance.

The software is easy to load and easy to use. I have used Turbo-Tax for many years and have never had one issue. I am not a tax expert and I am not a computer geek. I have a general knowledge of the tax laws and I am proficient in the basic computer software. I trust this software to help me make the right decisions concerning my tax filings. I will continue to recommend Turbo-Tax to my family and friends.
What's great about it: Deductions easy to walk through.
What's not so great: Figuring out depreciation was confusing to me; but could just be me.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Simple and easy

I have used Turbo Tax for several years and have found that the continuity from one year to another saves me a lot of time in filing. I know what to expect so I prepare my documents in the order the software will be requesting the information. I use the information from the previous year as a starting point and add or delete changes to be sure I have assembled all of the documents I might need before I start filling in the current year tax data.
What's great about it: Walks you through the filing process

Took too long this year

Much more complex than any prior year.Kept on insisting on filling forms that were not pertinent to my case. Other years seemed to be much simpler.
What's great about it: file transfers from prior year
What's not so great: Much harder than previous editions

Improving Every Year

Wish there was a toggle to a specific form or forms when you are entering data so you could see them on their respective schedule. So as an example, when you are entering investment data from investment firm, you could view the actual form.
Schedule A 2% exclusions should pop up so you can see the impact on the schedule.
