Great News!

I love my Turbo Tax software. It makes live a whole lot easier for me and I can use it in the comfort of my own home.
What's great about it: Asked alot of questions I didn't think of
What's not so great: Have to pay for e-file

Slight problem

Since I had a 1099 Int in 2011, Turbo asked if I had it in 2012 but I read that as 1098 by mistake. I completed the Federal Correctly and then Turbo found the "error". Assuming I hadn't entered my house payment interest paid - 1098 - I entered it only to find my refund gone and now me owing. I tried going back and couldn't identify what happened and how to correct it. Our income had increased by that error. The only thing I could think of doing was starting all over under my name paying particular attention to the the house payment interest area. The second time around it was fine.
What's great about it: Thorough questions
What's not so great: Couldn't correct a mistake I entered during Error Check

No Refund, But Done

I have used Turbo Tax for many years and have never had any problem with any return. I find the program to be very user friendly and thorough. The detailed walk-thru ensures that I don't miss anything and guides me through investment reporting. I have and will continue to recommend Turbo Tax to everyone I know.
What's great about it: Easy to use - the program walks you right thru. Data can be imported from prior rtns & other sources
What's not so great: Sometimes I have trouble knowing where exactly to look if I have to go back and add/delete info
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Taxes are always a breeze

Have used TurboTax for many years for all my family members and it has gotten better every year. Confident that I can do my own taxes even for a small home business. Can't imagine needing to go to outside tax perparer to "find" what was missed. Lots of easy to use features to get answers and understand the more complex tax forms and entries. Was able to enter my kids college expenses and have never been audited.
What's great about it: Continues to be simple to follow and enter all I need
What's not so great: Newbies may need to poke around to find things after going thru the steps but usually don't need to

I used TurboTax for the first time this year. I have done my own taxes by hand for years, and also have had a professional prepare them in years where they were complicated.
This year I used TurboTax to prepare federal and state returns for four separate returns for family members. I liked the way the software guided me through tax deductions and credits.
However, the education credit was hard to navigate on the dependent student's return when it had already been used as a credit on the parent's return. I knew not to use the credit on both returns, but it wasn't very evident from the software.
I also had problems printing the returns, rather than just saving them as PDF files. It took me longer than I had planned to figure it out.
I also had a problem with the help function. Most of the help function required internet access, and my internet was down just when I needed help.
Overall, I think it's a good product if you are very knowledgeable about taxes in general, and your own tax situation in particular. However, without a good tax background, you can lead yourself astray with the software.
What's great about it: able to do multiple returns, easy guidance to deductions & credits
What's not so great: Printing was not intuitive, education credit not fully explained, easy to go astray if you're not knowleadgeable
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

I do not like doing taxes but TurboTax made it simple and quick to finish and complete.
What's great about it: Easy to use and made doing taxes quick and painless

Easy filing

This is the first time I have filed without a tax preparer in a while and Turbo Tax made it as painless as possible. Saved me the cost of a preparer and since I like puzzles, it was almost fun! :-) The program steps you through the process as easily as my Garmin gives me turn by directions. Great product!
