The usual excellence

I have been using TurboTax for nearly twenty years and it never disappoints. I have never had a problem with the IRS or felt unsure about whether what I was submitting was accurate. TurboTax is no substitute, of course, for having all the documentation you need in order to fill in the information. But once that is done, it makes calculations and the process in general fairly straightforward and saves a great deal of time. My only critique would be that sometimes going back and changing one or another item can be a bit troublesome due to the automatic nature of the steps in the software. But overall, I cannot imagine doing my taxes without this trusted helper.
What's great about it: Easy to use, efficient, accurate
What's not so great: Sometimes changing an item can be difficult

5+ Years Turbo Tax Customer

Turbo Tax is a great product. The only thing that I am missing is a CPA's assurance that I took advantage of every loophole, exception, and rule that I am legally entitled to receive or use. I always try to read the extra help pages; but I still wonder whether I missed something.
What's great about it: Pre-loads information from prior year returns, e-filing is a plus, detailed information hyperlinked in sentences
What's not so great: I am always afraid that I am missing some tax rule or exception that would reduce my tax liability.

Turbo Tax WOW

After reading very carefully the errors pages, (it tells you where and what is needed) I was able to navigate to the proper subject for entering data, then it was easy to correct. I have used the program for 8 + years and have never been audited. I feel the program is excellent for catching the errors and helping to correct them for an acceptable return.
What's great about it: The step by step program was very helpful.
What's not so great: You must look carefully when entering data to be sure it is entered in the correct area.

Excellent intuitive program does all the work for you. Painless step by step format logically guides you to complete all the layers of the tax forms. There's no need to study or read IRS instructions or worksheets. Turbo Tax has many help options located throughout its many pages to answer and explain questions or procedures. Allows you to transfer information from your previous tax year and compares your current tax info with last years taxes on a line by line basis.
What's great about it: Simple, precise, step by step format walks you painlessly through your taxes.
What's not so great: Difficult to go backwards and retrace or redo your steps.

I love Turbo Tax. We had to pay this year, but without Turbo Tax we would have paid a lot more.
What's great about it: The step by step process which causes you to think of things you otherwise would not think of
What's not so great: A couple of times after review TT took me to a form and I had to figure out where in the step step I needed to go

Job Done - Whew!

I like Turbotax. Have used it for years to help a friend w/ her complex tax situation. I cannot imagine dealing with a 50 page return any other way.
One key to success is to NEVER override anything. Another key is to right click and select "data source" wherever wanting to make a change in a form. This will eventually lead to the correct place to enter or correct the underlying data.
Only one place where I've ever really been stung by Turbotax, and that was several years back when I bought a Dec 29 version and did a rough calc of the upcoming tax return to guide by last few end of year moves. The preliminary result showed no AMT due - but actually it should have said "AMT not estimated one way or the other quite yet." Congress was still dinking with the exact AMT details, but "zero" was the wrong answer - and I was stunned a few days later to see the tax calc change dramatically due to massive AMT obligatiojns that I could have mitigated if I had known prior to Dec 31 of that year.
So that's a cautionary note. Other than that Turbotax is great for what it does and I very much appreciate the expertise that goes into creating it.
