A bit more complicated this year

Well... overall, the prgram did a good job of getting me through the Fed and State forms. But it was a little harder this year to do that, and i was not that comfortable of confident that things were done right. I had to consult with an accountant friend to make sure I understood what TT was asking.
The laws are getting changed and more compllicated... so there needs to be carefull tutorials and explanations to work thorugh certain confusing areas. I was not aware now that safe deposit bozes were only deductible to a certain point, and the car registration amoiunt was just totally confusing.
Need to re-visit the explanations on some of this material. HSA waas really confusing with terminology. So was the whole section on insurance, long term insurance, HSA contributions mad eby the employer... etc. I really did not know what was happening here.
I lost three jobs in 2012 as life changing events... yet you did not ask that question to set me up with the consequences of that. You needed to walk me through this event... instead, nothing. I am not sure I have the right deductions for my job seeking expenses during 2012
In some cases, unexpected questions came on to confuse the flow, especially when it reverted to the tax forms to change box to 0 because it was not electonically able to file that box. The program was easy to use three years ago... now there are confusing items, and I buy TT to be not confused. I am a bit less confident now that things are filed right. Three years ago I had to pay a penalty because the TT explanation confusd me and I did not list an income item. Since then, I have had less confidence that my TT forms are correct.
What's great about it: Most of it was smooth and routine
What's not so great: Problems with understanding HSA and medical expenses

Great Product Easy to Use

A good product that is easy to use. Simple step by step approach to filing your taxes. After years of using tax prep services and accountancts with huge fees and numerous mistakes I'm glad I switched. The only complaint I have is that the state schedule instructions are not accessed through turbo tax.
What's great about it: Easy to navigate, clear instructions
What's not so great: Does not include instructions for state schedules

DIY tax filer

I prefer filing with Turbotax. I just wish the irs did penalize for mistakes.
What's great about it: Comprehensive view of your taxes and finances. Better than any tax service provided in the past.
What's not so great: If you make a mistake you penalties and interest.

Got my full refund
