Had to make three phone calls to TurboTax

The three calls were necessary for the following:
1. Self employed health insurance didn't transfer to line 29, instead showed as a deduction on Schedule C, giving me a zero balance for the business.
2. Did not give any information about reporting a Canadian disability pension.
3. Could not print a review copy of my return until the tax expert told me instead of print forms, go to review forms and then the printer icon appeared on the top menu. So simple! Why couldn't TurboTax give that explanation without a phone call.

2012 Taxes

This was by far the best edition of TurboTax yet. I was done with all our taxes in a few hours! The only change I would make is on the overview page: Need to be able to collapse the different columns. For instance, in 'Deductions' & Credits there are the different headings: Your home, your family, etc. By the end of it I was scrolling down 3 pages to get to the 'Next' button. Not a gripe, just an observation. I will be a Turbo Tax enthusiast for years to come! Thanks for such a great product!
What's great about it: Wow! Fast and easy!
What's not so great: Need collapsible headings.

Simple & Easy to Use

We've used Turbo Tax for several years and it seemed to be even simpler to use this year. The guided data collection process was easy and less cumbersome than a few years ago. The 'It's Deductible' feature is excellent - helped to ensure we were correctly valuing our charitable donations. Also, with kids in college, we would not even attempt to tackle completing our own taxes. Turbo Tax gives us confidence that we completed our taxes correctly.
What's great about it: Love that we can import W-2 and financial forms, i.e. 1099s. Saves a lot of time and possible data entry mistakes!

Tax preparation was quite simple and completed with no difficulty. Had some confusion when trying to charge state tax e-filing charges to my credit card. The pages that came up to do this were titled as if I was buying something. Confusing, at least to me, but finally accomplished the task.

First Time Filing my Own Returns!

This is my first time ever filing my own returns. Turbo Tax was super user friendly. There were areas that I did not understand what to do and looked up terminology on the internet as I went through those areas. There was a hick up with the state filing on downloading but did call the customer service number and they walked me through the downloads!

Pros: I moved, My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Turbo Tax Continues to Slip

I have used TurboTax for many years. Last year I also did my taxes on another tax program and used those results because I was more comfortable that they were completed correctly. That was a direct result of clearer and more detailed instructions. Turbo Tax has been consistently losing ground in their ability to smoothly guide the preparer through the tax process.
What's great about it: Parts of the program work very well and provide good results.
What's not so great: Explanations are in short supply particularly on state taxes.

Needs work

My estimated income this year was exceptionally large -- next year will be "standard". The program was very difficult to wade through to get to my realistic "estimated income" for next year, closer to the standard for me in my retirement. Took me a while to find "control D" to enter info. Don't make the thing TOO automatic!
What's great about it: automatic, but
What's not so great: ... automatic when it should ask for info
Pros: I bought or sold investments
