Excellent product!

Alabama return did not calculate correctly

I'm usually pretty pleased with Turbo Tax, but I was very surprised that Alabama did not calculate properly. I found this error when I did my manual Federal to State reconciliation. :(
What's not so great: Self-employment taxes paid in 2011 did not carry to Schedule A; I had to manually include this amount.

slow and less helpful this year

I have been using Turbo Tax for many years and generally have been pleased with it. This year I found the program ran much slower than usual. I also thought it did not help me very much on some items that were just a little unique. This was especially true when deal with NJ state return. In a few cases I took alternate approaches to see the difference and the program never flagged me for doing anything in error. I basically was on my own even when there was adequate information available to the program. I also expected it to highlight something I might be doing that was at variance with how I treated the same issue in prior years. In the past I can recall getting that kind of prompt but not this time. In short this is the first year I come away feeling less than 100% comfortable with having used the program.
What's great about it: covered basics very well
What's not so great: not helpful on out of ordinary items

It Worked...(I Think)

This was my 3rd time using TurboTax and, generally speaking, I really like the product. However, due to some tax complications (e.g. losing child deduction; HSA; and 1099-MISC processing) I wasn't sure about the answers I received when using the 'HELP" functions. I ended up giving it my best guess and processed both my Federal and State anyway.
Because of my confusion I purchased the audit protection...just in case.
What's great about it: Simple to use and enter data.
What's not so great: "HELP" options are not always easy to use and understand.

Easiest tax return ever!

This is the easiest tax return process you'll ever have to follow. From start to finish, I purchased on-line, downloaded the software, installed on my computer, completed my return and filed within 5 hours. Probably could have done it faster, but I spent more time reading detailed explanations of things I didn't need to because I'm overly cautious. If you just answer the step-by-step questions and don't go down all the "explain this" paths, I could easily cut off an hour or two from this. Just have your W-2's, INT-1099's and details for your itemized deductions and you're ready to roll. Hey, if you don't have to itemize, you could probably run through this in an hour (including purchase and installation). There's still time today (filing day) to purchase and get it all filed!
What's great about it: Fast download & startup - easy step-by-step instructions
What's not so great: My issues had nothing to do with the product - the tax code could use a re-write, but this product is gold!

Super Easy

Always easy and quick. From installation to completion it only takes me an hour. Even the anxiety of owing money is eased because setting up payments is set up without confusion or difficulty.
What's great about it: Transfers all information from prior year for ease and comparison
What's not so great: Terminology can be confusing but thats just taxes in general

Easy to Use and way easier to talk to than a CPA

Great Product been using it for years and it works- Zi took it to an accountant and he told me he couldn't do any better so save my money and keep up with Turbo tax!
What's great about it: Easy to use and keep a running record of taxes
What's not so great: the updates and solwness of them
Pros: I bought or sold investments
