Each year the Turbotax product gets better and better. I have the last several years on one computer and I can compare my tax strategies and make improvements. The final reviews always suggest options on how I can lower my taxes! I want to understand my money and not just hand all of my documents to somebody else...but I also want to make sure I understand all the tax codes. Turbotax lets me do both!
What's great about it: Detailed, easy and automatic
What's not so great: painful to do taxes no matter how easy it is!
Pros: I moved, My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

I have been using Turbo Tax for years & it has been very easy year over year. Even though I owed taxes this year, it helped to guide me ways to bring them down.

my experience with turbo tax

Have used turbo tax for 6 years in a row, love the ease with which the software allows you to flow from one year to the next. Topics are well covered and references to IRS (heretofore referred to as" The Great and Powerful Final Authority") publications for additional researchare always accessable with a mouse click. Having access to an online library such as this is a tremendous assett. Years ago doing my own taxes meant going to the library or post office, picking out reams of IRS tax publications, never knowing if I had all the right ones( we had a business at the time ) and having to navigate them om my own. NO LONGER NECESSARY....THANK YOU TURBO TAX
What's great about it: well put together, easy to navigate, short and simple

Turbo Tax continually changes it's interface in an apparent attempt confuse anyone using it from year to year. The changes rarely make it any easier or clearer to actually use.

I have used Turbo tax for as long as I have been doing my taxes and have talked my family, friends and co-workers into using it just by telling them how easy it is, while at the same time they are getting the knowledge of the tax world. It's like free tax preparation classes in a box!
What's great about it: Runs through all credit and deductions so that you don't miss them, even says so on the box "maximize your deductions"
What's not so great: Won't give you an advance on your refund.

Multi-state returns made easy

I have had 2 instances where I moved from one state to another for a job. The cost of filing multi-states returns is not available to calculate until the very end. Otherwise paying my taxes, no refund for me, was made easy.
What's great about it: Did everything for 2 state returns quickly
What's not so great: Cost were not explained until due
