The step by step approach of covering all income, deductions, etc. makes filing taxes virtually fool-proof. I have used Turbo Tax for several years. Great product!!

Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Turbo Tax is a great product. It is easy to understand and use. I have been using it for about 10 years now. The only problems I have with it are trying to follow the trail sometimes on the more advanced entries in order to check on accuracy or make changes.
What's great about it: ease of use for non-tax professionals
What's not so great: goes back to top of page each time
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Thorough and easy to use

Great program to carefully walk you through your taxes step-by step with clarifications along the way. It also has other resources to help you not make mistakes and get answers that you need to more difficult questions. Overall it's a program that most people could use to do taxes without paying big money to the professionals!
What's great about it: This program walks you through every step to file your taxes so that you don't make a mistake.
What's not so great: The only con was a long wait on the phone to ask the "expert" a question.

reliable as always

I have used Turbo tax for years and will continue to do so. I love how it calculates everything and files in the blanks--taking lot of guess work out of the process. But since taxes are so confusing and frustrating, there will always be frustrations in the process. All you can do to fix that is to fix our government and the IRS--good luck with that! I rely on on Turbo tax to get me through. A few years back, I took my taxes to a CPA to see if he could do any better for me than Turbo tax. He couldn't. The returns were identical. Of course, I have no business or rentals and the regular 1040 form suits us just fine. It might be different is our tax situation were more complicated. Thanks turbo tax.
What's great about it: I like the format--step by step through the filing process
What's not so great: didn't have the option of making a CD of final return --why not?

- I don't like being asked to fill out the "keep up to date" form every time I start to use the program.
- I thought the terms and "language" used to ask questions were as easy as tax language can be.
- In the past the IRS instructions were easily available but they were not this year -- they should be easy to see when exact detail is needed.
- It would be helpful if you would indicate if, based on the info completed on the federal return, there is a need to fill out a state return. (instead of just trying to sell a state return)

We have been using Turb-tax for yrs and never had any issues. In fact it seems almost every yr turb finds a extra for us. That is why we continue to buy it and suggest it our family and friends.
What's great about it: Turb found me a extra this yr
What's not so great: n/a
