I'm a DOD Civilian and I'm not sure how Danger Pay or Foreign Post Differential pay might result in a refund on my taxes.
What's great about it: For the most part, Turbotax is an easy to use software.
What's not so great: I had two parts to my wages that I didn't know how to apply.

I was able to do my return under an hour with my wife. Very straight forward and easy to use. Although every year has a different format, it remains simple.
What's great about it: Quick, Fast and easy to understand
What's not so great: Entering the FEIN does not enter all information from the boxes automatically.

Tax Preparation the Easy Way

I've been using Turbo Tax for nearly 10 years. Each year the product seems to improve and is very user friendly. I plan to continue to use Turbo Tax in the future.
What's great about it: Logical process to cover all income and expense areas
What's not so great: Still some "IRS language" that is difficult to decipher
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Quick and Easy

The 2012 Turbo Tax was a breeze. This year was my second year using Turbo Tax and I am glad I did. My return is fairly simple, but i need to use the long form to itemized deductions. Total time to complete my return once the software was loaded was approximately 1 hour. You just can't beat that.
What's great about it: Zipped through return preparation with a minumum of fuss

It is difficult to navigate other than in the lineal direction that the program wants. It is hard to find the sub-menu required to estimate the upcoming year's income for estimated tax payments.
What's great about it: prints forms nicely

Little Confused

The most glaring difference between the online version I was working on and the CD version I ultimately purchased was the standard sales tax deduction. It was off by about a $100. The charitable contributions for items entered were different too.
What's great about it: Fairly easy process to enter tax items
What's not so great: Confused about discrepancies between online version and CD
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
