Easy quick & excellent - awesome

I have used Turbo Tax for 20 years and each year it gets easier to use.
What's great about it: ease of use and ability to view IRS publicatins
What's not so great: none
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Have used TT for over five years now and consistently find my taxes are completed in an effecient and thorough manner with the Turbo Tax Deluxe. Most years with a refund! Love the It's Deductible feature. This saves my family money every year. I like how my information from the previous year is noted during the input process to remind me what I had entered last year. W-2 addresses & EIN numbers pre-load year after year which makes it easy and fast - same with the charity donations. E-filing is simple and fast and I've never had an issue with any of the e-filings I have submitted. With my paperwork gathered, I can complete my tax filings in one evening which beats multiple visits with a tax preparer! Not to mention the cost of Turbo Tax + the efiling fees is a fraction of the cost of a tax prep service! Thank you Intuit!

Sometimes glances over and relies that I know what other deductions might be. If I use TurboTax you should assume that I am no expert on what deductions there might be.

Do It Yourself

The software is straightforward and fairly easy to use. I like that it transfers the previous year's information over. It speeds up the process in some parts, and even when it doesn't, it's nice to have the information there as a reference/comparison or as a reminder to enter that for the current year. My biggest complaint would be that you can file your federal return electronically for free, but you have to pay to file the state electronically. In my state I could use their own Web site to file electronically for free, but then I would have to do the return all over again. I just end up printing it and mailing it.
What's great about it: Fairly Easy to Use
What's not so great: Having to Pay for State E-File

Somehow a mysterious number showed up in line 60 for tax from UT. Made us owe funds to federal. I had to over ride the entry because I could not find where it came from. We were not filing in UT and had no reason to file in another state like UT. Otherwise, this is the first time I had had this problem with Turbo Tax. In the past it has been very good.
What's great about it: Fairly fast and user friendly
What's not so great: Red tape at the end for the e-file payment

Every year, the number of tax forms multiplies, like cancer. And it will be worse next year. If you demand to maintain any sense of control over this miserable task of doing your taxes, TurboTax is the best aid you can find. It offers the clearest, most straight-forward path through "the maze" and yet seems to be able to personally tailor the format according to your past history and current situation. I've been using TurboTax for several years without any regrets. The cost is very reasonable because once you buy it, there are no additional up-charges as you go, no matter how many forms you might need this year or next. You can park it at any time and it brings you right back where you left off. The peace of mind when you finally finish is awesome because you can truely say you gave it your best shot and you proudly stand behind it, knowing you used the best tax prep software on the market. Period.
What's great about it: Improved logic to software from last year, especially when dealing with where to place SSI benefits correctly!
What's not so great: Some sub-levels of the program seemed to leave you hung with no easy way to get back to where you just were.
