Nice gain, Little Pain

Must pay attention to option details, but if you error, easy to backup and try again. Didn't ask about a State military deduction, but when discovered it was easy to correct.

What's great about it: Good Prompting Guidance, Great for Personal, Good for Small Business
What's not so great: Tedious for large number of Cash and Food Goods Donations

I used this program last year and saved over $200 in tax prep fees. Got it again to do this year's taxes. TurboTax asked me the same questions as my tax preparer.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Should include e-file for state

Requiured Minimum Distribution Confusion

No problem with RMD application to my IRA, but the Turbo Tax screens/options seemd tio "insist" that the Requiered Minimum Distribution requirement similarly applied to standard Pensions as well. I receievd no 5498 from my pension mgr.
I wasted a bunchof time trying to figure out what screen options to try.

Super Timesaver!

This is the best program I have ever used! I have been using it for over 15 years and really love that it keeps track of previous carryovers and taxes so that I don't have to do this. I highly recommend Turbo Tax for anyone.
What's great about it: Has ability to enlarge for Low Vision persons. Guides you through every possible deduction and income scenario.
What's not so great: I didn't like that it did not display itemized 2011 charitable contributions as comparison to the newly entered 2012.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Been using Turbo Tax for years. Had a couple of mini-audits because of stupid mistakes. You need to look at your forms! I entered an incorrect deduction amount on my state form a couple years ago and didn't realize I had reduced my taxable income to 1/5 of what it should have been. Just did the step-by-step and -- duh! -- filed it without looking at the actual amounts on the actual form. Also I had to keep going back for deductions this year that I knew I should get but the step-by-step didn't bring them up (e.g., professional memberships, personal property tax on autos#. But I love it and will use it again #and again).
What's great about it: For non-tricky situations, wonderful. Step-by-step is great, filing is easy and refund is quick.
What's not so great: If using step-by-step, have to stay alert for deductions you know about. Otherwise it will skip right over them (e.g., p

Constant looping

I used TurboTax last year, and I was pleased enough to buy it again this year. This year, I couldn't get the software to complete. By the time I had entered my credit card, it kept looping me back on screens (included the review screen even though no return had been filed). It kept taking me back to screens for no reason. I followed all the keys strokes as prompted. I have no idea, but when you are trying to get the return filed, it is frustrating and maddening to keep getting looped back to random screens.
What's great about it: Very straightforward
What's not so great: Would not finish

Another refund

The data between 2011 and 2012 was not clearly reviewed. This caused audit flags at the end when old unneeded forms we left in the new return.
What's great about it: Better interface this year with the deluxe
What's not so great: Hard to get rid of forms used last year but not this year.

Perfect Tax Software

Fifth year of Turbo Tax...I look forward to tax time, not because I get a huge refund ( I don't) but what a great way to get in touch with your personal finances! I wouldn't do it any other way.
What's great about it: Easy, concise, and great for itemizing
What's not so great: Not much.
