I could never have accomplished this return on my own!
Even though this took me many hours to complete, it was basically painless, except for my entering the expense details of my own making.

What's great about it: Guidance through the program

Great Product

The product is great for people to file their own taxes. If you are itemizing though, you need to be aware of what is allowed and what is not. Turbo Tax doesn't always explain everything in enough detail and if you aren't experienced you may think you qualify for a deduction that you do not.
What's great about it: Easy to enter information and like the step by step
What's not so great: If you don't know what you are doing can still make a mistake

First time prepairing--a little nerve racking.

I didn't have a lot of time. So each nite, I could, I did a little untill finally I got it done. You just can't quit because you don't know what you are doing. They are here to help!
What's great about it: Over all the experiance was worth it.
What's not so great: Whould not let me fix problem untill I deleted and started over.

Turbo easy!

We have used Turbo Tax for several years now. It is very easy to use and comprehensive. The system guides you through what is appropriate for your situation, no matter the changes from the previous year. Our situation is not complex, but it is comforting to know that the audit defense is available if needed.
What's great about it: Ease of use
What's not so great: Seems too easy.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

Great, Even for Returns of Average Complexity

I'll stop short of saying that TurboTax makes it fun to do your taxes. But compared to the anguish I used to go through trying to comprehend the incomprehensible 1040 Form instructions when I formerly did my taxes by hand, doing your taxes with TurboTax comes close to being a pleasurable experience. TurboTax does the deciphering of the ridiculously complex tax code for me, and it doesn't make embarassing transcription mistakes or math errors like I occasionally did. And on those occasions when TurboTax finds an obscure deduction or tax credit which I didn't realize I qualified for, I am one happy camper - although it does feel a little weird to express profuse gratitude to a program screen displayed on my PC's monitor. And lastly, TurboTax has significantly reduced the amount of time it takes me to complete my tax returns.

20 years and still using Turbotax

I have been using Turbotax for 20 years and have never considered any other tax software. I am a CPA and I trust Turbotax for my personal tax returns. It is nice to know that I can count on them to be here next year when I need to transfer my tax returns.
Over these 20 years, I have never had a tax return questioned or had any issues with submission to the IRS. I have both paper filed and efiled. I like that I can go through the interview questions (especially when there has been significant tax law changes# or jump straight to the items I need to enter.
There are a few quirky things that I would like to see changed. For instance, when you complete all of the questions for a certain area #e.g. Schedule C) it would be nice if you didn't have to answer them again if you have to go back and make a change to one of the numbers. This is not a significant issue, just a small nuisance.
Overall, I have been extremely happy with Turbotax and have no plans on using anything else for the future.
I have included a photo of the upper right-hand corner of my desktop that shows the Turbotax shortcuts for both business and personal returns for 2007-2012. I only keep the most important shortcuts on my desktop.
What's great about it: Easy to transfer data from year-to-year, option to either go through interview questions or "explore on my own"
What's not so great: A few small quirky things...nothing major

Tax Layman Ease

TurboTax is easy to use and very good at covering the areas that need to be included in a Tax return. Very good results I have had over the years and will continue to use TurboTax based on this year and previous years.
What's great about it: Ability to pull info from the w-2's easily... nice.
What's not so great: Sometimes would like to be 'done' with a section sooner, but really wasn't that bad.

The Only Tax Software I Need (and actually like)

I always use the step-by-step walkthrough, which makes entering my tax data very easy for me; but, if you don't wish to use this method, you don't have to- TurboTax gives you the flexibility to make the choice. I've used TurboTax for years and will continue to do so- it's like tax novocain!
What's great about it: Copied 2011 Tax info at my request; online assistance; pointed out a deduction I missed last year.
What's not so great: Didn't catch a zip code mistake till the end of the process just before filing; but, it did catch it.
