Overall I would recommend Turbo Tax. The program is thorough, asking a lot of detail not needed when filing manually. The step by step process makes it easy to file.

It only got me off in one area - it did not do a good job differentiating a company 401k and simple IRA. I got way off on this. It refers to a company retirement plan - I assumed this meant the old fashioned pension plan - not the 401K.
What's great about it: Easy to follow
What's not so great: Did not do a good job differentiating company based IRA 401K and simple IRA

I have been using Turbo Tax for more years than I can remember and each year the ease of use surprises me. I have recommended it to so many people.
What's great about it: Ease of use.
What's not so great: Not anything major.

If you have deductions, this is the only tax prep software that you will ever need. From the helpful walk through to saving all the form information for the next year, the ease of use is number one!

Raving about Refunds!

I have used Turbo Tax for ten years or more, once a 'muddy' back tax situation was cleared up. After looking at the forms my tax accountant had used, and paying them way too much, I decided to give Turbo Tax a try.
I used the last year the tax accountant had prepared as a guide, and followed the Turbo Tax step-by-step instructions. When unsure about a question, I would hit the blue comments to get further explanations and appreciated the detailed examples.
I felt so good when I had completed that first year with Turbo Tax, and LOVED getting the refund due me as well as saving the tax preparation fee. The 'Risk of Audit' meter is a bonus for peace of mind.
The electronic e-filing is another plus as you don't need to worry about 'snail mail' and the possibility of the forms getting lost. It's wonderful to get confirmation within 2-3 days of the forms being accepted and even better to have the refunds automatically deposited.
