Taxes Happen...

As a long time user of Turbo Tax [14 years] I am always checking the competition to see what they have to offer. So far TT has been the clear winner --and adding Audit Defense is just icing on the cake. I can't see myself ever using another service/application to complete this annual drudgery. Keep up the good work, Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: Excellent platform; easy to move through the entire process; excellent documentation
What's not so great: It's all good!
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Over $1000 that would have been lost!

I was in a no win situation where my entire "refund" was about to be in-voluntarily re-directed elsewhere. Turbo tax showed me how to legally avoid that problem. Excellent program!
What's great about it: Informed me of a way to keep money that was going to go down the rabbit hole.
What's not so great: None that I have found.

Needs some improvements

Turbo tax is a great product. I have used it for years now. But this year it was a bit bothersome. It automatically printed the estimated tax payment vouchers when I don't need them. Couldn't find a way to turn that off! Also, it did not give me any step by step through the california state tax forms. I couldn't figure out how to go through the process except by looking at the forms. It was not as easy as the fed forms.
What's great about it: Fast and easy. Step by step was great for federal return
What's not so great: Assumed too much! Wasted time, added frustration.

I really enjoy and appreciate the speed and accuracy when making small changes that ripple through many forms. It' hard to think about ever going back to manual methods!
What's great about it: very fast updates for any changes, linkage to state tax forms
What's not so great: Sources of calculated numbers not always clear
