Good Ol Turbo Tax

I have used Turbo Tax since I can remember, except for when the price was a lot more than Tax Cut - then I switched - for one year.
I love that it can pull down complex investment forms and put the numbers in all the right places for me.
I like and trust the interface.
I like "It's Deductible" and use that every year.

Just a good old trusted friend who walks you through your only annual dealing with the IRS.
Not much more to add.....
What's great about it: Friendly interface, ability to download details from financial institutions

No longer easy to use

I had this typed all out and then I got kicked off line.
So here is the short version
Turbo Tax did not preform up to standard this year!
Very frustrating to use.
I have used this program for many years but this year is the all time low.
The program doesn't flow from screen to screen like it used to with clear instructions to follow. Many times I had to back up to get it right.
It wouldn't let me do my state taxes. I shut down the computer and came back later it then it worked.
Then the problematic program wouldn't print my copy of the taxes. That's where I'm at right now. Rating D+

I typically don't complain about issues. But this is the second year in a row (and second time in one year) that I have had issues filing multiple returns. I always end up having to call customer service to get a state e-file confirmation # in order to file. Whether it is to redeem the free state or pay for the additional ones, I end up getting stuck. It's just frustrating.

Good and Bad

Printing is a a real problem. The last couple of lines don't print on a page. Everyone is having this same problem according to what I read on Chat. Poor quality controls before releasing a software program.
What's great about it: There are some good improvements to the 2012 program
What's not so great: Printing is a real problem. The last couple of lines do not print on the page. This is a wide spread problem.

Outstanding

The last part of the process is printing the return and all supporting documents. They give you multiple opportunities. It makes you feel like you are not getting everything you need. Not a huge deal, just confusing.
What's great about it: Very user friendly!
What's not so great: Printing my copy was slightly confusing.

Filing 2012 Tax return

Up until this year, the Turbo tax software has always utilized the information from the prior year's return if it was done using Turbo Tax. At first the system could not find my last year's information. Then, I took it to the pdf file and it found the information and loaded the personal information. However, it did not use any other information from last years filing and I missed the year over year comparisons and the prompting to remember where I had received income, made donations or claimed deductions in the prior year. It also did not provide the electronic filing information from the prior year. Disappointing.
What's great about it: Helpful as always
What's not so great: Did not use much of last year's return in the process
