Very Useful, but a Few Nuances (Bugs?)

I've been using TTax for years, and after having done prior returns manually, I appreciate its utility:
1. It alleviates a lot of grunt work.
2. Downloading the gory 1099-x details from financial institutions is great.
3. Importing from prior returns is very helpful.
4. Importing to reduce state tax return entries is a valuable feature.
I recommend the following improvements:
1. Printing the forms is really simple, but the instructions are too verbose.
2. I do not like to be interrupted by advertisements while concentrating on preparing my tax return.
3. There seem to be minor bugs, like check marks getting stuck.
4. Sometimes TTax requests data that apparently should have been generated automatically.

A Joy to Use

Turbotax is an enormous relief. I have done complicated taxes by hand before. What a headache--all the little worksheets and cross-referencing between schedules. Turbotax does all these background calculations for me so I don't have to. All I do is make sure I enter the right numbers in the right place. It's also fun to see how one entry--a charitable contribution or other deduction--increases our refund. It is a joy to use and well worth the cost.
What's great about it: Simplifies calculations, reminds me about deductions
What's not so great: Doesn't include some less common forms
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Better every year

I would like to see improvements in those 2 areas:
1. Buy & sell residential properties, does it require filing if the transactions result in loss, etc.
2. As mentioned above, re IRA sections.
What's great about it: Contents better orgarnized than previous years
What's not so great: Needs more clarification in the Retirement section: such as distribution, rollover, contribution & any combination of

I have been audited twice in previous years and wished I had an one on one experience with turbo tax. I have actually thought about going to a tax attorney that would better advise me on what is acceptable for tax deductions.
What's great about it: Everything is done step by step
What's not so great: Having a one on one experience and knowing what is acceptable.

"HELP IS ON THE WAY DEAR!"

I called two days before the tax deadline and asked for help w/ a problem due to my unemployment situation! The person I spoke with was wonderful to say the least! She really knew I had fallen on hard times and DID WANT TO HELP ME! She Made sure I had everything I needed to get going and she even recalled me the next day to see if the program was working properly! I was floored by her interest and ability to help. Her compassion was even greater! She gave me a chance to breathe again and she also renewed my faith in the human spirit! I'll never forget that Nor will I forget her! Thanks So Much Turbo Tax! The Falcon!
What's great about it: The Service the Understanding and The Quick Responses!
What's not so great: NONE!
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Done in a day!

Before Turbo Tax, I always manually figured my returns on my own. I would spend the better part of a week reading instructions, doing calculations, making entries, then checking and double-checking everything. I've found with Turbo Tax that I can sit down with all of my supporting documents and get everything entered in one day or less. The time it saves me is well worth the cost of the software!
What's great about it: Quick, easy, and comprehensive
