Best TurboTax Program in 20 years!

Ease of Use greatly improved. Guided forms straightforward. Easy to navigate where I needed to go to select a form. Especially liked the tabs (open at the top) for the forms I had selected. Easy to save and print PDF file.
One problem I had with multiple 5329 forms, line 52: the program put the "Waver Explanation" on the wrong form for my wife and myself, which I had to manually correct.
Great Program. Send me a TurboTax CD-ROM automatically next year 2013, with a discounted payment option to pay by credit card.
What's great about it: Ability to select and correct forms directly.
What's not so great: Paying additional for CA State efile.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Very easy & simple to use

I have been using Turbo Tax for years. As always, this was a very good experience. The program easily guides you through all of the necessary steps. It is fun to see the taxes owed or refund values change as you enter your information. I highly recommend Turbo Tax to anyone looking for tax preparation software.
What's great about it: quick & easy with great explanations
What's not so great: printed too many worksheets

It was better a few years ago

I have been a happy user of Turbo Tax for over 15 years. It was always very good, and improved steadily in the early years.
At one point a few years ago it was almost perfection! The links between the easy step prompts and the worksheets and forms were very clear, and the turbo tax help and links to the IRS instructions were immediately available and brought up relevant detailed information. Working through the program, a user was able to become well educated in the complexities of our messy tax system!
However, these features have become increasingly less apparent during the last two or three years. The turbo tax help is too general to be effective, and the links to IRS instructions don't take you to the specific sections which address the issue at hand. Working back and forth between the easy steps and the worksheets and forms is more difficult.
My impression is that changes in the program structure are being made for change sake, and the program is being dumbed down to increasingly shield the user from the calculations and entries being made on his or her behalf. Going in and our of the easy step Q & A system to the forms is more tedious and results in much re-cycling through questions already answered.
For the first time since I started using the program I am going to try some other products. And I've stopped giving unqualified recommendations to my friends.
This program is remains very good, but it was better a few years ago!
What's great about it: thorough prompts, sound calculations, excellent error checking
What's not so great: Too much of the process is hidden, worksheets lack flexibility

Not MAC friendly

Not only did it not work on my Mac due to it being 32-bits & 20012 requiring 64-bits (which should have been on the box!!!), but my saved 2011 files wouldn't open from the memory sick. (My daughter had just purchased a new Mac notebook on which we loaded Turbo Tax 2012 with no problems.)
What's great about it: I feel confident all areas are covered.
What's not so great: didn't work with my Mac
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Good experience

I like how the software rolls through the return. I like how I can go back and update a section. That is great.
I dislike that I have to create a PDF to print. Why is that? Such great process until the very end? I don't know, do people like that feature? Well, obviously I do not.
What's great about it: Easy to choose and update sections of the return. Great to see where I am as far as oweing money or getting a refund

Getting more difficult

This software is still worth the money, but there were a few points which I found unclear and it took time to sift through the tips to figure it out. How to handle a pension rollover to an IRA is the main one.
What's great about it: Still better than doing it yourself...
What's not so great: ...but some areas are less clear than in the past.

Overall, I have used Turbo Tax for many years and am confident when my returns have been filed that they are accurate. This year was especially difficult because I had several additional items that I wasn't sure about whether they needed to be included on my return. I was able to go through the program and found my answers. I highly reccomend this product.
What's great about it: Provides help, explanations, and guidelines to make it easier to remember items I might have missed.
What's not so great: When joining comunity there were too many conflicting answers.
