Depreciation Problems

Last year, in a hurry to get things done, I entered a number of new assets for depreciation. Turns out that all were defaulted to 7 year depreciation, and one of them was supposed to be 10 year straight line. Last years depreciation number was pretty close to correct, but there appears to be no way to correct this in the system. Or at least no "help" topics that would show you how to do this.
What's great about it: I do like the way that the program walks you through what can be complicated territory, but...
What's not so great: Upon review, it appears that I incorrectly set up seven year depreciation for an entry last year, but I cannot correct .

2012 Tax review

I have used Turbo Tax for many years.... The ease of being able to do your taxes at a very reasonable cost. I use the Deluxe version as it gives more abilities... I like the way it uploads the previous year and also the ability to download from Financial institutions. I recommend this product to all my friends.
What's great about it: Easiness and ability to go back and edit
What's not so great: would like more user friendly explainations

Online vs software

I misplaced the disk and was filing later than usual this year (my fault) so started online. The way to split income on the state return (married filing separate for state), wasn't very clear. I figured it out once I found the disk and transferred my info to the computer. It raised my tax liability, but was correct according to the state of Iowa.
What's great about it: entry is easy
What's not so great: some things are less than intuitive

I've been using Turbo tax for a long, long time. My only dink is being charged for state efiling - it should be free.
What's great about it: Seasoned users can skip the interview
What's not so great: the interview and getting charged for state efiling, really?

I've used Turbo Tax for several years, and have gotten used to the program and the information it needs to complete tax forms. With experience and the step by step guides in the program, you can feel quite safe that you have not forgotten anything and that the forms are completed correctly. It does take time, especially if you have several deductions and other things to consider. However, doing anything well and thoroughly will be time consuming. I feel, however, that the time is worth it b/c you feel quite confident that you are getting the best result and you don't' have to pay the larger expense of having an accountant complete your taxes.
What's great about it: Great step by step guides through the program that make it easy.
What's not so great: Time-consuming and one of the more expensive programs.

Well Done

Program works well. very simple interface. I wish there was a way to speak withsomebody knowledgable about deductions and issues when you encounter them but that because i owed money and wanted verification the amounts i owed was correct aside form just the software for that human to human verification . aside from that very happy and great job with the prodcut. i will continue to use and reccomend.
What's great about it: VEry simple and thorough to use.

Pro: I like how simple and direct TurboTax is.
Con: By having the TurboTax "expert" ask me questions and put data into the forms, I've lost touch with tax rules over the years.
