Good but not great

I had a major dilemma. My circumstances were somewhat different from last year (first time on full retirement and no W-2s) and our income was unusual by previous standards.
From a 1099, I entered 11,000 of income and typed in 44,000 of taxable income (finger on the wrong key). Now of course this makes no sense. I would think that TurboTax should just question even if the 2 numbers aren't the same (understanding that sometimes they aren't). And I really can't conceive the case that the taxable would be many times larger than the gross. This error is buried where it is not easy to see during a review.
Our taxes seemed really out of line (like by $10,000!) and it took considerable searching to discover my error. I really think you could do a better job in general in making sure the entries seem to make sense.
What's great about it: Basically does the job, picks up info from last year, and shows the comparisons. That's good.
What's not so great: You could do a much better job of administering a "smell" test to the data
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Easy Peasy

Always my choice for taxes

I've used Turbotax for years and find it a very easy method of filing taxes.
What's great about it: Easy to follow prompts, can download my investment info, simple transmission
What's not so great: Filing fee for state taxes on top of software cost
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Turbo Tax changed my life

I like that I can load Turbo Tax and complete my Federal & State in one sitting. The best feature in my opinion is the Itemized Deduction functionality. It makes sorting out and valuing my itemized deductions a snap. All I have to do is save the receipts from my charitable donation's and easily plug them into Turbo Taxes template.
What's great about it: Blow it out in one sitting

2012 Turbo Tax

I have been doing my taxes for the last 5 years with Turbo Tax and everything h as always been fine when sending in the returns. Enjoy using this program.

Simple and speedy

We have used turbotax for many years and still find it our best option. We really love that it carries over the prior year's info, huge time-saver. Could use more questions about K-1's on the NYS return- had to look up the instructions on NYS website to find proper reporting requirements - no guide for this in software, and no quick answers in help. Overall still happy and will use next year too.
What's great about it: Pretty easy to navigate
What's not so great: NYS Return could use more prompting
