We've used Turbo Tax for the last several years now and continue to feel comfortable and confident when using the software to complete all necessary forms as well as e-filing. I love the simplicity built into the step-by-step instructions along with thorough instructions, examples and explanations.
What's great about it: Thorough, easy to use step-by-step instructions
What's not so great: Incomplete deferred payment instructions for 120 day option for Federal

2012 TurboTax Review

Went back to Estimated tax forms and made a few changes which did not seem to make any changes on my Estimated Taxk for Individual forms. Did not understand what was happening, and could not correct. Finally went back to Step-by-Step and had to go thru too many pages to finally get to fixing my estimated tax. just going to the forms would have been much easier. It probably was an error on my part, but the software should have caught me, or I should have been able to easily correct it.
What's great about it: Gets better every year
What's not so great: Still laborous - had problems with extimated tax

It guides you through fairly well but when something needs to be adjusted it would be helpful if a link popped up to directly take you there, rather than leaving you endlessly search through multiple tabs and mouse clicks to hope you're making the right alteration suggested.
What's great about it: Easy Guide through filing
What's not so great: Useless help bar
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

TurboTax Successful, Again, But Not Without Hickup

All was going well until I attempted to transmit my State and Federal returns. It was then that I received a message: "There is an update available..." when attempting to e-file. When I looked for an update, I was told my program was up to date. Following the TurboTax Help recommendations, I restarted TurboTax 2012, but the problem persisted. Again following the instructions, "If the problem persists" i had to Uninstall and then Re-Install the program and download updates. I again opened my return, but now the State return was missing. I found by closing the program and re-opening it corrected the problem and I was able to transmit my returns\, with confirmations returned. Being so close to being complete and having to dance through this most frustrating and time consuming ordeal, I have to say the TurboTax failed to meet this customer's expectations.
What's great about it: Brings forward previous year's information
What's not so great: Filing ERROR resulted in forced Uninstall and Re-Install
