This was a difficult tax year. I bought a house for cash. I sold stocks. I feel confident that I did my taxes correctly. The questions truly guided me. I did have to do a little research on my 1099-B but the questions popped up and my loss was correctly calculated. Yeah, they are done and although I owe, I saved more than that by doing them myself. I would like the program to ask more questions about home purchases. Although there may be no deductions of fees and etc., the questions help confirm that no deductions are missing. Thank you for your program...used it for years and feel very confident I am doing a good job.
What's great about it: I loved how the program asks all the questions to get you the best refund and proper completion of my taxes.
What's not so great: I did have to do a little searching to find out about my sale of stocks...but figured it out with just a little effort.

Great Program

I thought this year's Turbo Tax was very thorough and very complete. Easy to use, easy to navigate, with everything I needed to feel like I was getting a detailed, informed tax return completed. Keep up the good work.
What's great about it: step by step was very detailed, very complete
What's not so great: sometimes the step by step had too many steps

RE college 529 plans, no where to indicate room and board charges are being attributed to 529 plan payouts. this is important b/c both hope/opportunity credits and lifetime learning credits cannot be used for room and board, but 529 plan payouts can. subtracting r&b from 529 payouts means that other payments can be used to qualify for for hope/opportunity or lifetime learning education credits. there is no way to indicate this when using turbo tax.
What's great about it: pretty easy to use
What's not so great: 1.The interviewing process is annoying. 2 no way to attribute college 529 payouts to room & boardto

Does the job quick and easy

Turbotax will search your PC files for previous years info and import it into the current year, so be sure to use the same PC or laptop that you did previously. I don't know why I wait until the last minute, because as long as you've been collecting all your tax documents as you receive them, it's almost painless to complete the tax returns. This is only the 2nd time I've used Turbotax and of course I should have done it sooner.

I have been a Turbo Tax user for over 10 years now. The 2012 version was just as easy and quick to use as the previous versions.

Loyal user of this software but getting it to run this year took me over two hours just to load and run. Part of this is age of my PC but I'm sure this is issue with others. Why does the overall program file have to be so huge.
What's not so great: Program file is so big it bogged down my older PC
