Almost perfect

Line 9a of the Schedule C worksheet is a number that TurboTax calculates based on my entries. When I ran error check, it flagged it as an error. Saying 12 months was not a valid entry, even though, like I said, they calculated it. I was able to override the number, but I am a little worried about how that override will affect my return.
What's great about it: Took much less time than I expected
What's not so great: One glitch.

Saved me time and trouble

This program helped me a lot by telling me what paper work I needed and suggesting deductions that are available. My only compliant was that I was unable to find some of the needed paperwork but now I know what to safeguard for next year.
What's great about it: Walked me through the process and explained everything

In order to make certain that I entered data correctly, e.g. on 1099-Misc, I could not get to the entry lines without deleting and re-entering.
Also, I do not understand why Turbo-Tax put a 1099-Misc Box 3 entry, not on line 21, but on Schedule C.

What's great about it: Truly like listings style of going through a topic
What's not so great: Going back to check or re-enter
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

turbotax is big help for filing returns - easy step-by-step preparation and advice as progress. should provide easy help while preparing such as how to "deduction for servicw gratuity etc. Overall - can't file without it!

Long-Time Customer

I've been using TurboTax since it was introduced and can't imagine doing my taxes any other way. It's been there for me during times of complexity (sole proprietorships and partnerships, limited partnerships, investment gains and losses, inheritance issues, home sales and purchases, losses and carry-forwards, alternative minimum taxes, foreign investments, etc.) through the relatively simple itemized returns I complete nowadays. I'm not an accountant. I'm a writer and an educator who is grateful that TurboTax's jargon-free explanations have helped me navigate every step.
Both of my (now adult) children use the program, and it makes me proud to see them in charge of their finances rather relying on outsiders to complete their tax returns. I've recommended it to friends, some of whom have embraced it and others who are still too timid. Gotta say that I love the empowerment!
I'll leave you with a tip. One of my favorite features of TurboTax is the ability to list Supporting Details for each deduction. For example, if you have multiple unreimbursed business expenses, simply right-click on the box for the total amount and a pop-up will open where you can enter each item and its amount. TurboTax will calculate and fill in the sum. I like to enter the date of the expenditure and which account I paid it from (checking, credit card, etc.) as well as the merchant name and item. As I enter each item, TurboTax re-calculates my Federal and State refunds or payments which is always motivating. When my tax return is complete, I select an option that saves these supporting details on separate forms so that I can have them handy for future reference or audit (never happened).
What's great about it: Gets easier to use every year. Adapts to every situation. Instantly shows how each item affects my bottom line.
What's not so great: Would like to see the filing and processing fees upfront rather than at the end.

I've been using TurboTax for over 10 years and still love it!
What's great about it: Walked me through everything and I'm confident I have the best refund possible.
What's not so great: The State Refund section should allow backing out AND checking off the list if you don't have to file state.

Easy to Use!

This is easy to use. It helps prompt me on deductions I might not remember to take otherwise. It also takes care of the tough calculations & forms required for education credits and investment transactions. So I love to use it even though I used to do my own paper forms since I have a degree in accounting!
What's great about it: Easy to use - TurboTax prompts me through every situation.
What's not so great: Sometimes when I have to backtrack - it makes me go through the same questions again.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
