Awesome Refund!!!

I have used Turbotax for the last 10 years with never any problems, and I work for the IRS. I would never go elsewhere. I did receive a free cd in the mail from a compeitor and loaded it to see what their product looked like, but was surprised when I ran my numbers and got a different smaller refund amount.
Turbotax is great! You will never be disappointed.

Fantastic Process!

I am not the most advanced "financial" girl in the class. I have been using Turbo Tax for about 10 years and I just love it. I learn things along the way. In addition, I learn about how to prepare for the following year.
I just love the Turbo Tax process and I love my sweet husband for introducing me to this amazing gift.

Problems this year

I could never get the program to print copies of my tax returns. I had to save them all as .pdf files, then open those files and print from .pdf. I seem to recall a one-step process in the past in which the documents would print automatically, and there wasn't the "Save as .pdf"; "View Print Preview" (which always shows tecnho-gibberish until converted) or "Cancel" as the only options.
It took me forever to figure out why the program was only giving me the standard deduction instead of the itemized total, which was higher: no explanation of the failure to meet the threshold amounts. very confusing until I went back and played with the numbers to try to figure out why it was making me take the $11,500 standard deduction when it was showing a total of itemized deductions of $19,800. Need more help and info here.

Disappointed.... it just didn't seem to be as easy or user friendly as in the past, and lots fewer "help" connections... where they used to be in the program, now it just sends me to the internet, if and when it can make a connection. I'm kind of sad.

Best All Around!

Very easy to use software that allows you to skip ahead if you know what you're doing (which I don't), or follow the guided step-by-step instructions. Highly recommended for the mathematically challenged, such as me.
I especially appreciated the quick links provided to the IRS tax regulations; the links took me right to the page I needed, saving me the trouble of scanning through the government's four million word document.
I've recommended Turbo Tax to all of my friends!

Good for NC teacher retirees

If you have at least a basic understanding of your NC Teacher and State Employees Retirement System benefits you will have no problem understanding and properly answering the questions so Turbo Tax recognizes that your pension is not taxed by NC.
What's great about it: If you pay attention, it will properly handle the NC tax free nature of state pension benefits
What's not so great: You do have to pay attention to properly answer the questions

2012 TTax Review

I have used Turbo Tax for many years. This is the first time I have been asked to review my experience.
Pros
I do like the free federal efile. I like the way it imports last years return and gives comparisons with several years. I also like the ease of entry.
Cons
When purchasing TTax I find no benefit to having been a customer for multiple years. It is still cheaper to got to and office products superstore where I get the best price and a CD.
Some of the navigation is very annoying. In ItsDeductible, I found myself having to retrace my steps several times.
I also found myself with several accounts with Turbo Tax even though I have been filing from the same address for over 20 years. Even though TTax found several accounts for my email address, I found no way to consolidate these accounts or to change my email address.
Your cutesy messages are just annoying!
Also, even though I bought the Federal version WITHOUT state, I was prompted (bugged) often to start my state return. I have been filing from Texas for over 20 years and we still don't have state income tax.
Overall
Thanks for letting me sound off. I still have more likes than dislikes about TT, and will continue to use it.
