AMT and ForgeignTax

I had to lookup AMT issues on form 8801 2011 manually because you did not acknowledge this was completed. What a waste of time! Foreign tax paid and credit seems to be input twice and overly complicated. Better wording on what is needed and clear carry over is requested.

Easiest way to file your taxes

I always use Turbo Tax to file my taxes. Its so much easier than expecting a human to remember and not lose your receipts.

Painless and Super Quick

TurboTax Deluxe is my go-to tax software. Having visibility from year to year simplifies and speeds up the process. In addition, the software walks you through each step and asks questions you wouldn't even think are applicable to taxes...helping to maximize deductions.
What's great about it: Easy to follow, year-to-year trace

Frustrated by Form 1099-INT Worksheet

Along with numerous other users, I have complained (and been ignored) for several years that the Form 1099-INT worksheet allows for selection of only one of six listed adjustments to bond interest income. Very frequently, interest income to be reported in the first year of ownership for a bond purchased in the secondary market requires adjustment both for accrued interest and amortization of premium.
As the worksheet allows for only one adjustment, a clumsy work around is required by which the gross interest income is arbitrarily split between two worksheets, with one sheet containing the accrued interest and the other containing amortization.
Another alternative is to to aggregate all bond interest income reported by each broker, split the total gross arbitrarily and then aggregate the accrued and amortization on two worksheets. This also is messy because the aggregated gross amounts must be assigned categories of tax status (e.g., fed and state taxable, state taxable fed exempt, etc.).
Why can't Intuit simply modify the 1099-INT Worksheet to allow entries for each type of applicable adjustment? I've been a TurboTax user for at least 10 years but, as an active bond investor, I'm tired of trying to get this addressed. Between now and December 2013, I will be examining competitive products and will move to any that do a better job on this.
What's great about it: Overall, TurboTax does a good job except as noted in "Cons"

The Interview Questions from Turbo Tax may seem a little monotonous, but they are very thorough and precise looking for any wrinkle in your Return.
