cpa comparative result

We have been using Turbo Tax since the late 1990's: it began as our lives became complicated with later marriage and the changes in starting a new family. We hired a CPA to do our taxes, while I performed our taxes using Turbo Tax, the returns were compared. We conitnued to do this for another 3 years: each year we filed the CPA report, because we had not come to our conclusion. When comparing the reports side by side for these 3 or 4 years, the CPAs found slightly better deductions but demanded a higher price for their work. All in all, we were coming out about even with Turbo Tax and sometimes better. My time and effort are worth something also. So now, for at least the last decade - I have only been using and filing with Turbo Tax. I'm relaxed and confident with my returns. That's my synopsis and I'm sticking to it.
What's great about it: easy and accurate guidelines to follow
What's not so great: sometimes you must go directly to forms to accurately 'go back'

No Headaches

I'm using it for my 4th time. Ours is pretty basic, but I'm sure I would use it if I had a more complex situation.
What's great about it: Personable, easy to make changes, great prompts

The product is very easy to use due to its step by step design which walks the user through the income and deductions portions of the tax return. Transferring data from the federal return to the state returns saves a lot of time and trouble. The ability to pick up last year's information allows the ability to compare year over year differences. The only difficulty is trying to understand some of the explanations for the decisions made by the product. This may be caused by the complexity of the tax code more than an error in the product.
What's great about it: The step by step design of the product is extremely helpful.
What's not so great: Some of the rationales are difficult to understand.
Pros: I moved, My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Great - But Still Some Frustration

This is a great professional quality product. I have used a few other tax filing programs over the years and this is the gold standard. One annoyance is that it is sometimes very hard to remove an entry, and the program with prompt you endlessly to fill in answers for an item you no longer need. For example, on a K-1 Worksheet, I explored the possibility of claiming car expenses for our business. We decided not to claim a car expense, and although I thought we had deleted a car from the form, the program continued to badger us for car information - we could not efile our return without going back and putting in something (zeros) for a car we did not want to claim.
What's great about it: Great Product, polished, used it for years with no problem
What's not so great: Hard to remove some entries - can be very annoying

Piece of Mind

I use Turbo Tax every year and it helps make this scary process easy. I use to worry when using the regular paper forms if I was understanding things accurately. But with Turbo Tax it helps clear up all of the doubt. And it is much more affordable than going personally to a tax professional. I love it!
What's great about it: Very helpful with answering all my concerns as I went thru my tax filing process.
What's not so great: Nothing

Easy Peasy

Thanks for making filing taxes so easy. It does most of the thinking for us and is idiot proof. The free Federal return is a huge bonus. This is the third year using your software.
