Not quite a 5-star!

Every year I thought it would get easier using TurboTax Deluxe. But it has not!!
I liked it when you had made improvement at the front-end. Letting users get started with the tax process immediately, i.e. personal info. gathering, interview... I was doing very well sailing thru the whole process with not a single error until the end.
At the end, I was not able to e-file my state tax return due to a withholding tax item (for $8) on a dividend even though I received a "Congratulations! No Errors Found Stm.". Took me a couple of hour to resolve the issue. So frustrating! It's an unforgiving bug, TurboTax. This may very well be my last time using the product.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Not pleased this year

My computer hard drive failed last year. Consequently, I had to hand enter all the info this year. It is one of the reasons I almost looked into other software providers for this year.
Next year, I may change and here are my reasons:
I made a mistake in my data entry regarding a credit. For some reason, I could not get the software to accept a correction. No matter how many times I started that section over, the software remembered portions of my error which continued to show up in the review for mistakes and yes, it was identified as a mistake. No matter what I tried, I could not override or eliminate the original mistake.
I found it hard to save my file mid-stream when I needed to find some records and return later.
I found it hard to review the straight tax forms, without any of the Turbo Tax junk that is added (questions, commentary, etc.). I just wanted to browse my nearly final form.
The "answers" section is confusing. I never found a specific answer to my problem. And the answers require a computer sophistication that I do not possess. I had to ask a family member about our computer type, software, etc., just to select a potential, but unhelpful answer to my question.
Previous years were superior to this year's format. I have been a happy customer in the past. I am hoping Turbo Tax will improve. But, I am so disappointed that if I have another experience like this one, I will not return.
What's great about it: I trust the calculations
What's not so great: If you make an error, reversing course with this program is difficult

Always Great and Efficient

I've been using Turbo Tax for years, this was by far their best version.
What's great about it: This year was easier than ever.

I think Turbo Tax can take it's value to the next level by serving customers as a repository for reciepts collected during the year.
Add a scanning function for donations, expenses, etc, that allow customers to document expenses, credits, etc.
The benefit to Turbo Tax:
1. It's value creation for marginal investment.
2. It creates the ability to generate revenue year round with this particular product line.
3. it will provide a brief peried of differentiation between this product and competitors before they do the same thing.

What's great about it: Error Check helps you avoid clumsy errors if done by hand
What's not so great: Turbo Tax doesn't invit me to use it as a repository during the year

If Life was like Turbo Tax...

Life would be a breeze!
The programmers for Turbo Tax continue to do an amazing job year after year in being able to keep up with all the changes that the government throws at us, yet unerringly maintain that perfect navigation through the maze of tax requirements.
Turns a dreaded ordeal into an pleasant process! Okay, maybe that's overstating things... ;-)
Indispensable program well worth the price.
What's great about it: Amazingly user friendly interface and navigation

Overall, this is the only way I'll do my taxes! It's a program that's easy to understand. It's easy to navigate. And I got my refund...federal and state. Thank you TurboTax!
